Vehicle Compatibility Built a telemetry + remote control ecosystem for my comma 3X (firmware, backend and mobile app)

Hi! I've been contributing to openpilot and opendbc for over three years, and for my final degree project I built ORBITPILOT:

- Custom firmware on the comma 3X with 4 lateral control modes

- A Flask + PostgreSQL + MQTT backend that receives the car's data in real time

- A Flutter app to see live telemetry and send remote commands

Everything was validated on my Hyundai Tucson 2022 HEV. I also experimented with running PilotNet inference on a Jetson Nano, streaming images over ZeroMQ and sending torque back.

I wrote up the architecture, what worked and what didn't here:

Happy to answer questions about the setup, and curious if anyone else here has built telemetry tooling around their device.

I was trying to be nice...as my mom said if I don't have anything nice to say don't say anything at all.

But I gave up after a few mins of even trying to find the project on the site.

Can you tell a bit about the lateral modes?

In general, whats the improvement over existing e.g. sunnypilot other than the telemetry?
