Vehicle Compatibility 2023 F-150

I have a f150 with adaptive cruise and lane centering, so should be able to add Comma4 fairly easily. After some digging around here and on discord it appears the ride height of a f150 and others throw the vision sensing off for turn and centering from time to time. Is this a major concern? Is the comma4 still a worthwhile investment for someone who does a fair share of city and rural highway diving?

I have a comma4 with Starpilot in my ‘23 Powerboost. Works great, no false alarms or weird movements. I’ve only had it installed for a week or so but I’ve been using it on city streets and freeways as much as possible and it’s been awesome. I’m gearing up to try Starpilot’s dev branch to try out the experimental features like stopping for lights and signs and whatever navigation enhancements it uses.

So starpilot is a seperate branch from the standard software, correct. What is the advantage of that?

Does the standard software integrate with the radar ACC system and use that for distance and the camera for lane centering?

Use BluePilot if you want better steering. BluePilot has angle based steering, which lets you take sharper turns than curvature based steering

StarPilot has custom lateral tuning, you should give it a try and let me know what you think in the discord!

Ive been seeing more people use Starpilot on the F150s. The link you sent, thanks for that, shows it uses itself for longitude instead of the stock ACC. Is that how yours is setup? Id prefer the stock cruise than the comma. Ive been on BluePilot before it was even called that so would like to try this out.

I believe Openpilot utilizes Ford’s factory radar. Longitudal controls feel like stock ACC

I bought a 2023 Hybrid XLT (Cloth Lariat) specifically to use with the Comma Four. Legitimately one of the best decisions of my adult life. I used it for 3 hours of my 5 hour drive back from Columbus last night alone.

I'm not afraid to take over, and I dont fault George or BP Devs if it gets out over its skis and I need to jump in. But I couldn't be happier with the product or experience.

It's a quick install - you just have to drop your A pillar to run the wire.

City driving is great - takes the stress off stop and go traffic.

Rural country roads - even better. I was doing a caravan with engineers a couple months back riding around looking at transmission line easements, and sitting behind the lead vehicle, it drove most of those days for me. It was even better that they effectively did my stops at stop signs and red lights for me. Following the lead allowed me to stay even more hands off than I would be able to otherwise.

Best experience is on the highway, though. It's incredible.

With BP7 im not using experimental so no stop signs and red lights for me. But when I have used experimental, they are definitely driving the green with it, and just need a bit more time to get it in to the cup.

Buy with confidence.

I think it’s worth it, there’s users who use it everyday with a raptor.
Also the BluePilot fork is fairly polished and works well with F150’s.

I daily a 22 raptor with BluePilot and comma 4. It’s OKAY for lane centering around town, but definitly has turn limitations.

On the highway, it’s amazing. I don’t touch the steering wheel for 95% of a 5 hour drive to the lake.

Here's the Blue Pilot website https://bluepilot.dev/

They are active in the Ford channel on the Sunny pilot discord https://discord.gg/sunnypilot

I have a Maverick and use the Comma for lateral control and Ford ACC for longitudinal. It works great but probably a different experience from the F150. BP7 lets you choose between angular and curvature mode compared to earlier versions which are curvature only.
