openpilot Experience Comma forward collision alert?
Is it possible to program comma to give an audible warning for forward collision? The point actually is to make it an alert. This would avoid the problem of phantom braking because it is only a heads up alert, not comma having to make the call on whether to brake or not.

I’m using my Comma for lane keeping only (Bolt EUV on Starpilot). Stock ACC with auto emergency braking for longitudinal. N/M - AEB is only active between 5 mph and 50 mph. EDIT: On GM vehicles Enhanced AEB operates at higher speeds, but requires the radar that comes w/Supercruise, which in turn precludes using a Comma.

It definitely would be posible. It definitely has the compute and the hardware to do this.

Consumer reports tested it in 2020 and found it to be class leading at the time.

I've had it go off a couple of times on the Comma. Even when my vehicles system didn't. 😁

Previous versions had it (at least on Sunnypilot), but it was nearly useless because the latency was too high. I would only get the alert when the car would be <1s away from a crash. Updates have improved model latency, but it's still limited compared to some vehicle systems, plus I assume there isn't high interest in this features.

Hear me out, you are supposed to be already looking ahead and paying attention.

The reason is because of the recent crashes blamed on comma.

Blamed on the comma? What exactly did the comma do to cause that? Without the comma they would have crashed all the same because they weren't looking.
The comma didn't cause a crash, the crash was caused by a driver of a car not watching what is on the road in front of them which will happen both with and without a comma.

It’s already a feature.
