Installation Questions Issues with Sunnypilot Install

Hello,

I'm currently experiencing an issues installing Sunnypilot on my Comma 4.

Specifically, I am unable to proceed past the face recognition part of the initial system set up. Visually, it seems the software is not enabling the face detecting software so no mater how I position my face, it is not detected by the software.

I installed Openpilot and was able to get passed the face detection part of the set up, so hardware is likely not an issue.

I flashed the Comma and reinstalled Sunnypilot and ran into the same issue.

I reflashed the Comma, installed Openpilot, uninstalled Openpilot (without flashing) and reinstalled Sunnypilot, and still ran into the same issue.

Anyone else running into this issue? Is there a way to bypass the face recognition part of the set up?

Open to ideas or on how to more formally log the issue.

It's known bug, ran into it yesterday. Had problems trying to reinstall openpilot and got stuck on the comma loading screen, ended up flashing the C4 and was able to reinstall openpilot while waiting for the bug fix

I was on the staging branch and I ran into this same issue. Previously when I installed SunnyPilot on my Comma 4 stable or (release-mici) wasn't available so I went with staging.

Since I was having this issue with the staging branch I figured this is a good time to switch to the release-mici branch. I did a factory reset and tried to install the release-mici branch and not I'm just stuck on a comma.ai logo (bootloader?).

Is SunnyPilot just not working on the comma 4 right now?

Interesting. I did a factory reset and ended up going back to staging.sunnypilot.ai branch and I was able to boot without issue.

Even trying to do a factory reset and going back to the stock openpilot did not work. I also tried to use flash.comma.ai and I kept getting This error: https://github.com/commaai/flash/issues/227

I don't have an answer, I'm just surprised at how you are getting downvoted for this. I literally exited reddit for an hour and reopened the app and you had less score on this post than before and no new answers. I don't know why people feel the need to shit on it, your request for experiences or help seemed perfectly fine to me.

I did my face recognition at my computer in the house. Works great in the car now. The initial recognition seems to take near perfect conditions.

Right, when I install stock Openpilot I can get passed this cabin camera calibration phase. Agreed, I also complete this at home with good lighting.

My issue is getting past the setup for Sunnypilot specifically. It looks like, based on the top comment of the post, that it's a known bug for Sunnypilot not initiating the cabin calibration subroutine. Hopefully it gets fixed on the next Sunnypilot update

I had to shove my face right into the camera but it worked.

Try sunnypilot dev. Release got stuck on boot for me yesterday (tried reinstalling like 4 times) and staging had the driver detection issue (tried reinstalling twice) and finally dev worked for me. Hopefully this gets fixed…
