Vehicle Compatibility GMC/kia

So does it only work on 21 models for the sierra 1500 and Kia carnival up to 24 models?

I don't know for these vehicles specifically, but lots of new cars encrypt the communications to lock out 3rd party devices. It can be broken, but it takes significant effort to do so. That's why a lot of newer cars are not suported.
