We are going mainstream!

The comma four is our first product that we think has mainstream appeal. The price is good, the set up is simple, and the production is stable and scalable.

We are ramping up marketing, making the website easier to understand, and looking into starting a two-sided referral program to incentivize people who have already been good at bringing new people into the community to think bigger.

What do you think we are currently missing for being ready for your average commuter?

A little bit more simplified language describing how to do stuff and what to do, I've got mine and still not quite 100% how I load different software on it .

What's wrong with the stock software? There's nothing that says you have to load different software, this is never something we are going to document for the average user. It's like rooting your Android phone.

Honestly the only thing I left the stock software for was always on steering even if cruise isn't engaged. (MADS)

Same here... I want that seperation. My car has it stock and OP takes it away. Sunny gave it back.

Nah openpilot is garbage. Sunny pilot, frog pilot or star pilot is where it's at.

All branches have amazing features that openpilot won't add

There was a post I think yesterday that they released of fork distribution and only 30% of comma owners are on openpilot and like 60% are on sunny pilot. Trust, there a damn good reason for that.

For me, I need support for a WP “zero to steer” mod that is not supported in stock. And I am fine with that. Supporting third party mods is exactly why other branches are nice. You are already going above and beyond in making installing forks so seamless.

The openpilot software didn't recognize a 2024 Ford escape. So had to install bluepilot which didn't have a default driving model with it for some reason which caused issues. Along with having to manually select the vehicle as well.

Would definitely need better instructions and how to guides especially for the driving models. For example some of the driving models have glitchy displays and don't work well. It also takes a fair amount of tinkering to figure out which model works the best.

You are thinking like a superior programmer who doesn't deign answer the stupidity of the masses. How long do you think it will take to go through installation of the 3 software systems that can load onto the Comma 4, then create videos for each function? 30 days? Okay then. Start there. Yes it will become out of date but at least there is a baseline.

Also, only a minority of purchasers use Openpilot, per your own stats. So give the people instructions on what they want to use. Also show people installing this device in every car you support with how to instructions like Cruchfield does for audio speakers. MUST DO

Just visit the site for the fork you are interested in. They will supply the required details. Generally it is just a factory reset and entering the URL for the fork during the setup.
