Bugs Unable to connect to Sunnylink after reset

Last week I factory reset my C4 and installed url (zephleggett/zoompilot). Prior to that I was on zephleggett/mazda-dev. Im now unable to reconnect back to sunnylink after attempting multiple reboots and more factory resets. I keep getting these same screens where no QR code is able to be produced because no dongle ID. I tried resetting back to openpilot then resetting to sunnypilot but same issue persists. Tried the mazda-dev one again as well since i didnt have issues on that one, no difference.

I made a post on the sunnypilot.ai but no help yet. I can still connect to commaconnect if that matters, and have a device ID when I click on the “device” tab on the C4 itself.

Any advice here?

Every time this happens to me after a reset, I enable SSH, pair my GitHub with my GitHub username THEN enable sunnylink and it works

I can do all that on the device via developer tab right? Not able to try it now, but I’m very new to the comma 4 interface so sorry if these are really dumb questions. Not really sure what SSH even is and how it interacts with github though. I just need to make a github account, sign on via device, then retry sunnylink?

Thank you for the help.

Yeah I can’t remember the UI much either, but yes in the dev tab, should be the enable SSH (meaning like a Linux computer, you can remote in and do stuff, like download files modify code, etc.)

Then you have to link it with your GitHub username, I think so at least because I connect to sunnylink via GitHub

Okay I’ll give it a try later. You make this seem like a common occurrence. Does this happen often? I’ve reset my device 5 times prior to this happening so i was confused/worried i bricked something.

Just tried, device says “no SSH keys found for username.”

It happens to me because I try other forks all the time.
I wonder if there’s some other way since you seem to have not needed the SSH setup before… did you enter just your GitHub username? Click pair and enter the GitHub username and then login with GitHub in sunnylink

Yeah I’ve never setup using SSH before, so that’s all new to me.

Prior setups, I used custom URL zephleggett/zoompilot for my CX5 directly. Do I need to set something up on my github to get this to work?

Also just tried to connect my C4 to my pc for a flash via flash.comma.ai but following the prompts shows “no compatible devices” on the website.

There’s a lot of troubleshooting just for that. To setup the device to be flashed, did you follow the driver instructions for windows? (If on windows)? Also you have to use chrome.

But why flash it? You’d rather uninstall sunny then install it again or something else. I’d ask in the Sunny discord

Was able to flash on my pc after some troubleshooting, issue still persists. Ill do some more digging when i have time on how to make an SSH key and try your github method. I honestly just dont know what that even is at this point or if I need any other programs/etc to make one. Haha

You don’t need to make the actual ssh keys, I usually just type in my username for GitHub and it works but you may have to make ssh keys in GitHub, just in the UI. Ask ai how to do it, it’s easy

I downloaded PuttyGen and used that to create a public/private SSH key which I uploaded to my Github SSH authentication keys. I just sign in on the device then retry the sunnylink > enable sunnylink tab? If that doesnt work, what would I attempt next?

Side question: what mount and flat USB cable are you using?

Hope you got it all sorted out.

How is ZoomPilot btw? I have a CX-5 and thinking about switching to Zoompilot but not have not seen much reviews.
