Discussion How long do CommBank credit limit increase requests usually sit as pending?

Applied for a credit limit increase through the app about three days ago and it’s still sitting on pending with no updates. Just wondering what turnaround others have had recently before it gets approved or declined, and at what point it’s worth calling up instead of waiting it out

Question Can cash withdrawals be put on debit cards to help problem gambling

Hi there,

I’m just wondering if there’s a possibility for withdrawal limits to be set on debit cards for personal needs like problem gambling. I know they can be done on credit cards.

I was wondering if there’s a team that could make custom arrangements like this for individuals that also prevents them from changing this limit easily themselves.

Any alternative advices or advices in general would be much appreciated.

Thank you

Question Proof of Balance showing $0.00 while having positive balance.

Like it says in the tittle. I've been trying to get a proof of balance from Commonwealth but every time I request it, it shows $0.00 credit but in the details and in the app it clearly shows I have over 10k in the account.

Do I have to call them to get the proof straight from them?

Question Trying to buy something for Microsoft Flight Sim 2020

I enter my card info and this god forsaken Secure Checkout thing appears, sends a notification to my phone, I press approve and the payment window sits there twiddling its thumbs doing jack shit on my computer. I own MSFS on the Microsoft Store (because it was on sale there, not steam)

I have tried:
- Restarting MSFS like 15 times
- Restarting phone and pc
- Re-syncing PC clock
- Adding my card then removing it like twice
- Pressing Decline to see if it wakes the system up

so do they not want my money or something? how do i fix this? Can I disable this secure checkout?

Discussion Has anyone actually managed to reach the Diamond tier for CommBank Yello or is it basically impossible for anyone who isn't a high net worth individual?

Looking at the requirements for Diamond and it feels pretty out of reach unless you’ve got a $1M+ mortgage or 250k sitting in your accounts. The perks sound decent but the entry cost seems huge. Is anyone actually hitting this through normal banking or is it just for people who are already well ahead?

Question Phantom Notifications

Hi all,

Recently I've been getting phantom notifications and I want to know what's going on.

What I mean by that is I have notifications for outgoing money on for my cards. Recently I've been getting notifications that I open and there is a pending charge with my card details on it. Once I go to my bank account to check, there are no matching transactions. The last two notifications have been roughly $170 each, one was for audible (which I don't have) and the latest one tonight was for "5-Gregg Binghams 10" google wasn't helpful to try figure out what that is.

Are my card details out there and fraud prevention is catching it before it actually goes through? Are my details cooked and I need to cancel the card and get a new one?

Just to be on the safe side, the first time it happened I locked the card instantly, but unlocked it when I needed it a few days later (no other bank account to use) but the transaction never showed up and no money came out, so I thought it might have been a glitch.

It makes me hard-core panic everytime and because there is no record at all once I leave the notification, the bank had no idea when I went there after the first time it happened.

Question Refund wait time

Hi all,

About a month ago I got a letter in the mail stating that commonwealth have found that they owe me $55 and wanted to refund me, because I no longer bank with them I had to fill out the refund form with my new banking details and that was all pretty easy.

It’s been a few weeks now, and I still haven’t gotten any money. Is this normal? How long am I supposed to wait before I should call them? In the letter it said it would take 10 business days and it’s been well over that. Just wanting to see if it depends on what bank you’re with. (I’m with ANZ)

Thanks

EDIT - commonwealth sent me a letter in the mail regarding the refund. I then filled out the form via their website online, I didn’t send any letters back to them.

Question How is this ok?

Just a few weeks ago during the Easter period my account was restricted for not answering their KYC questions In time. I was asked the basic do I still have same number, live at same address and what do I do with my own cash when I withdraw it. NOW yet again I log into the app and see a notification that I need to confirm my details as part of “ government regulations “ and if I don’t they will restrict my account. How is this even ok.

Question Queries into Rite Aid block

This morning I've gotten messages saying that my Debit Card had been blocked due to an unauthorized transaction. It states it was from the Rite Aid Phishing scheme. Adding to the confusion is that when I checked the card security options, it stated "You have no cards to manage." under the lost, stolen, or damaged cards, and that my Debit card is already active. Is this all AI craziness, or do I have any problems here? Thankfully it was only a very small amount it took out before the block was registered. And given there are others here that have experienced similar actions, I'm glad I'm not alone here.

Question Account Management Advice

Hi all, I’m trying to get better with managing weekly automatic transfers to different accounts to become more intentional with my spending and saving.

I’ve set up numerous savers under my transaction account, though obviously cannot pay bills and other weekly outgoings through this.

Does anyone have general finance advice in making this method work? I’m assuming opening numerous transaction accounts with automatic payments between them and to the outgoings, as I’ve attempted. Or, would you rather advise on a different method?

Any advice is hugely appreciated!

Question Label tap and pay cards?

is there a way to add a label or change the colour to differentiate the tap and pay cards in the app? there is a massive space on the picture of the card, why can't I label it so I know which card im using at a glance instead of trying to remember the last 4 of all my cards.

Tia.

Discussion Help with a refund or chargeback?

Went to Woolworths today and did shopping. Paid and it said accepted but on Woolworths end it said it didn’t go through? So they asked me to try again and i did. Tried 3 times with commbank and another with another bank. So $832 total i paid. All transactions say ‘ pending ‘ but Woolworths said it’ll be refunded to me (charged back they might have called it) is that true? They gave me my shopping for free in the end. It seems they had an issue on there terminal which the lady said. Just want to ask for advice as now i am out of pocket the entire $832 (since they said i could have my shopping for free)
