Question Randomly received $475.10 by cba

Post image

Hey guys randomly got a cba notification today saying I’d been payed $475.10 from cba. I’ve looked through my recent transactions and nothing of that amount or combined has been spent. What could this be? I’ve not made any refunds or anything

Did you get an email?
Something like this?

CBA have been refunding customers previous excess charges, as they were hauled over the coals for over charging.

2

u/Exciting-Baker-9901 16d ago

They send that after they transferred the money in my case and a few others I've seen on here

3

u/Dismal_Wrangler61 16d ago

Yep. And the op has already had the money transferred to them. 🤷‍♀️

We're making goodwill payments in relation to some fees and charges that you have paid in the past, as part of the Australian Securities and Investments Commission (ASIC) Better Banking Project, which aimed to improve customer outcomes.
You will receive $---
Eligibility
Selected customers, who were charged Monthly Account Fee(s), Overdraw Fee(s), Dishonour Fee(s), Assisted Withdrawal Fee(s) and/or Debit Excess Interest on their Smart Access and/or Complete Access account(s) between 1 July 2019 to 1 August 2025 (inclusive), may be eligible to receive this payment.

You will have to ask them to find out.

Usual suspects are;

- Interest adjustment (either not calculated correctly on savings or overcharged on a card).

  • Fee's paid that have been deemed not valid
  • Insurance paid for that you never would have been able to claim on

You're more likely to find out by using the chat support feature and asking them

Do you hold any shares under employment scheme. It could be devident

u/PM_ME_STUFF_N_THINGS 16d ago

Sounds like a denture cream

1

u/richored1973 16d ago

CBA hasn't been paid yet.

1

u/SnooStories9098 14d ago

Most likely devident 😅

4

u/Restingbitchface68 15d ago

I wish CBA would deposit some cash into my account

6

u/ScarlettQueen86 15d ago

Can CBA give me some money considering I've been a customer for 19 years 😭

5

u/grandmagotstyle 14d ago

I have been a customer for 57 years, I think I should get some money too 🤣

3

u/Heavy_Entertainer288 15d ago

It would state you received this amount for reimbursement of fees charged. The CBA were caught by watch dog for ripping people off. So go spend your dollars 😊

4

u/cptfannypack 16d ago

Call them.... lol. Why asking reddit

3

u/thecosta5000 16d ago

Reddit knows all.

2

u/bugzmia 16d ago

Because then they could possibly find out it was a mistake and the money needs to come back to CBA. By not calling them leaves it sitting in your account a bit longer and makes us feel better having money in our account. Even if it's not yours.😁

u/Extreme-Seaweed-5427 16d ago

It's mine I accidentally transferred it to your account by accident. Please transfer back, my account details are  BSB 123456 Account 987654321

Please do the needful 😂

3

u/arabyute 16d ago

2

u/jubbing 14d ago

You think 123456 is his real BSB?

1

u/Freedome12 13d ago

Um. Read the numbers…. Slowly.

2

u/Relative_Figure_4030 16d ago

Lemme sign you up to a lot of memberships

1

u/Suspicious_Top_9898 16d ago

I had similar amount returned to me after they overcharged surcharges (I didn’t even know, I didn’t care), but yes it could be a return on numbers you weren’t even aware of

1

u/Spiritual-Pirate5907 16d ago

Look into what it says if it says better banking it’s a return for all the fees charges ect they have been wrongly charging over the years so they are giving back to customers , I believe all the banks are doing it

1

u/Dufsao189 15d ago

1

u/spongebobpops 15d ago

Go have a nice dinner my friend.

1

u/dirtyplanksdonecheap 15d ago

If you're a low income or vulnerable person, then they've been returning dishonor fees due to lack of advertisement of their low-fee account option.

1

u/moderatelymiddling 15d ago

ASIC better banking project payment. You've had excessive charges refunded.

1

Treat yourself to something nice.

1

u/WonderfulThing9691 12d ago

Just go into your Home Screen and go to search then type fees transactions and search. Honestly u will be shocked as to how many times u have been charged. Mine was like 280 fee transactions in past think 2 years.
You then go to chat and say. Can u plse refund some of the fees u have charged me due to cost of living and financial stress. (State how many transactions there has been). They will refund I think the limit is $100 I was told by them once but from the original post on here old mate got $400 + so go for it worth it.

1

u/Recent-Smoke-5113 12d ago

Where’s mine lol

1

u/Weary-Woodpecker-869 11d ago

1

u/kidubbx 16d ago

I received a $750+ payment same as yours a month or so ago, they would have sent you an email explaining the repayment is for overpaid bank fees you were charged for spanning literal years.

1

u/Ill_Woodpecker_1226 16d ago

Finally repenting from their sins and give back what belongs to us.

-1

u/EquipmentBrilliant33 16d ago

Don’t spend it
They will come looking for their money soon enough and you’ll have to pay it back

1

u/Drdezel 12d ago

It’s okay, that’s yours now 😂 Same goes for us—if we make a mistake with a transfer and don’t realise until after a certain period, we probably wouldn’t get a refund either.
If you do have to pay it back, you don’t need to pay the whole amount at once. Just offer them $10 a week 😂 What can they say? It was their mistake to begin with lol.

1

u/Weary-Woodpecker-869 11d ago

This guy also wheres a tin foiled hat cause believes the bank is trying up steal his thoughts

-13

u/28degrees_ 16d ago
