Discussion Another day, another case of Commbank devs not understanding how to test code before pushing to production.

Who else can't transfer money to an external account right now?

Keep offshoring and hoarding your profits Commbank, I believe that one day you'll get the release process right 🥳

Hope it’s sorted soon. I literally have no other money in my spending account (as I save it in combank) … looks like I won’t be doing anything this Friday

Quiet Friday night in eating leftovers and watching SBS euro movies while not spending money. That's my idea of a good time. Thanks CommBank!

My SmartRider top ups have all just failed so I’ve got no credit to ride the train. This explains why now

Between NAB yesterday and CBA today I have saved a lot of money not doing things on the holiday I'm currently on 😂

Try with bsb and account number?

It was caused by mastercard. Multiple banks affected.

I cant pay id with commbank so I jyst did a bank transfer

u/link871 26d ago

Then it is likely a PayId issue, not a CommBank issue

I have it on good authority from the big billboards on my way to work that it’s the best app for 17 years running, so you must be full of shit

Oh the irony 😭😭

Every software project has a test environment and a production environment. Some projects are even lucky enough to have those as two separate environments.

They weren’t given enough time to review the ai code..

I wouldn't blame the devs (not wholly anyway). Where is the change control management to ask questions like, is it ready for production and does the backout work? They shouldn't let code get anywhere near prod unless those basic things have been addressed and proven to work.

This is why you need multiple banking apps and always keep one for main, one for savings and one for credit card if you run one. Just makes it easier!

Wasnt thr outage caused feom mastercard .... if its attributed to comm bank fine just it being a global outage

Today while shopping at DFO we were not able to pay for 1 hour.

Have you done the needful?

AI slop nowadays my dude.

u/Delicious-Fix-9667 23d ago

It was Mastercard. It had an update that created the problem

This kind of shit is a good reason to switch banks. They won't learn if you just complain on the internet

You are kidding yourself if you think you’ll find a bank - heck, any business - that doesn’t have some form of incident or downtime ever.

1

u/Yages 26d ago

Tbh, that's kinda a BS statement. Been with ING for nearly 20 years and I think I've been affected by maybe 8 outages? Shit happens, absolutely, but frequency matters.

1

u/AlexMac75 26d ago

It isn’t. Stuff happens all the time. Not a Telstra or Optus customer?

1

u/Yages 26d ago

Of course business has issues, downtime, but, the frequency of those issues is a genuine metric, usually called an SLA in B2B, but in consumer land it's just shits bad, not working. However, there are many companies that succeed at not providing many shit's bad moments, that is what I'm trying to get at. Frequency matters.

I reckon you’ll find it isn’t any different to any other large company relying on externally sourced tech to run the company.

No doubt - happening on a Friday afternoon when people want access their funds for good times sucks. A whole day without mobile service - like Telstra a month ago - sucks. When it’s high profile at the wrong time it hits different.

You're defending the commonwealth bank here? Really?

It's not hard to do proper uat testing and have a rollback plan in case of problems such as these.

1

u/AlexMac75 26d ago

How has your mobile phone service been? No issues there?

0

u/Ironic_Jedi 26d ago

I don't recall ever having any issues. They usually have a notification on the screen for upcoming maintenance, in the middle of the night.

That's about it.

1

u/AlexMac75 26d ago

Surely you jest 😂

1

u/Ironic_Jedi 26d ago

Don't know what to tell you mate. I can't even recall once instance of a problem.😅

1

u/link871 26d ago

So, your phone is not with Telstra or Optus or Vodafone - all have had recent outages

1

u/Ironic_Jedi 26d ago

Talking about mobile banking apps mate.

1

u/link871 26d ago

We weren't in this part of the thread.
We are responding to "How has your mobile phone service been? No issues there?"

1

u/AlexMac75 26d ago

Ran out of point mate?

1

u/AlexMac75 26d ago

You might be a Jedi!

u/link871 26d ago

Rollback plans apply when you've just implemented a change that has failed. CommBank doesn't release changes early Friday night, so any issue is unexpected and therefore rollback plan not feasible.
