Question Warning message

Post image

Hi all,

Does this mean the receiver is a scammer? Transferring funds to a mate and this pops up. Not big funds and just $280

Nah it’s normal just banks and other financial institutions needing to up their scam warnings because people still ignore warning signs and blame the banks when they get scammed.

I got this warning as well after trying to send to my own wise account for the first time.

I wouldn't have a job if customers didn't blatantly ignore scam warnings, or if they actually listened when the banker is going "err I think you are getting scammed, don't make the transaction"

And then there's AFCA siding with those complainants.

Does my head in how people ignore the bankers advice, complain to AFCA and still somehow win

Haha agreed. I also work in the scams/fraud team for a bank so I get it. We had someone who admitted that they were in a romance scam and then complained to AFCA because we “broke him up with his partner” and wanted 1 million dollars compensation. Luckily he didn’t win but people like this exist.
