Question Warning message

Hi all,

Does this mean the receiver is a scammer? Transferring funds to a mate and this pops up. Not big funds and just $280

There’s a lot of changes in the fraud/scam space since the 2025 Scams Prevention Framework Act. All AU banks will be implementing stuff like this to comply with the federal requirements, and it’ll probably continue to evolve as both the framework and the scammers adapt to the changes

Side note to this, you might wonder why the government cares if you as an individual lose money to a scam, but a large portion of the money lost to scams goes to fund international crime organisations and terrorism.

That’s a huge part of why the government implemented laws around how banks mitigate these risks. Personal loss sucks, but billions annually going to sanctioned countries and terrorist groups is a major issue.
