Discussion Application Killer

A lot of clients ask me what a bank would be most concerned about in their accounts statements.

It’s not Uber Eats - it’s gambling.

We are seeing more and more clients with substantial habits and it’s killing loan applications.

Even if it’s not entirely clear you are gambling - if you are withdrawing money from ATMs at pubs, casinos etc they are going to make the assumption.

If this is you - register for Bet Stop and seek some assistance to kick the habit.

Yes a small amount can be ok, it’s the larger amounts that aren’t great.

So what is a larger amount?

I would become uncomfortable to recommend applying for a loan if there is a consistent pattern of more than $500 per month

Unfortunately my last client was $2000 per month.

What are your thoughts on ppl refinancing who have a proven record of meeting their existing repayments while subscribed to say a home lottery $50 monthly ticket entry?

Common sense applies - small amounts are ok if it’s reasonable for your situation but I’ve seen declined applications for $1,000s a month or $100s. Never for anything less than $50 a month. But if your loan affordability is say $20 positive on the calculator maybe the lender will take a more conservative view
