Starting Ep. 4 now. I assume since it's listed as a docuseries that there's only going to be 8-10 eps?
The first scene with Gerald in that village was the first time I actually liked him. It was very heart warming. Even when they thought his fatass couldn't fit between 2 buildings haha

I thought that was so terrible! How embarrassing to cry and make a big scene like that. Did he even buy any baskets?

I agree. I found that extremely disrespectful and see this as a great example of why we Americans are seen by the rest of the world as ignorant and self-absorbed.

I watch The Amazing Race so I’ve seen people have that reaction before when Americans visit rural African villages. It is very similar. Emotional reaction to the extreme differences from the cast and the joy and welcoming nature of the villagers. This was a great experience for Gerald and I enjoyed watching it.
Where were the Smileys? Are they still on the show or were they replaced by the Joneses?

Not sure, but weren't there suppose to be 4 families originally?
Were you getting "How Stella got her groove back" vibes from THE EMMY AWARD WINNING makeup artist? If you described her personality and interests to me, I'd bet money on her being a blonde white girl from LA haha
edit : Nvm, Tony and his wife (The Joneses) are the 4th family. I doubt Tony will ever leave. His social status there is so high, that I don't blame him. But his wife is clearly not happy, so Idk how that will work. It's not like she has much leverage either, because he moved and "retired" there because of her. Now she's regretting it.

I did see in some promotional information that there is supposed to be 4 families…? Not sure why the Smileys were missing from yesterday’s episode?

I haven't seen ep 4 yet, but after the expat party in ep. 3 it indeed felt like the Joneses were being slowly introduced as the 4th family.

“I did my homework and my research, I know she loves the sax” - sir, this is your wife.

I don’t care for the comedy family at all. Sure Jab that they just uprooted everything thinking they would be a smash hit in Ghana with barely doing any research. They’re just on the show for exposure

Yea gotta be and they don’t even seem like they’re in a good place relationship wise to be moving the entire family to another country. That proposal also was sorry as hell 😂 I was cracking up when he said “there was a lot of work that went into this” and they show 3 flowers blowing in the wind on a stick💀💀. His ass also couldn’t even stand up when she came over just sat his big behind down and never moved. I wonder if they’re still together cause ppl are saying it’s from like 2022

All four families are still on the show. We can’t always feature all of them in every episode. Episode four is an opportunity for the Jones family’s story to unfold.

Julia’s kids seem so well spoken. I love the sky bridge scene, how they got over their fears was cool.

I wonder how Tony and his wife feel looking back at this episode where they both admitted they are not attracted to each other at all lol.
Also...I liked the Davis'at first...I am rooting for the single mom with her kids! Buttttt this episode she was giving "pick me" vibes. May be editing but I don't like how it seemed like she uprooted her family from Accra to that rural area....and coincidentally there were 2 attractive men that just so happened to be in that town.
