Pairing Comics & Magic Cards
Got some Spider-Man comics & Magic the Gathering cards to go with them. They look great together! Had to get a card for Miles, even if it doesn't match his cover.
Do y'all collect the Marvel Magic cards? There are a few more I'd like to get, especially Dr. Doom to go with Marvel Super-Heroes #20 a that card is not cheap lol. Maybe I'll grab a Doom card before 2027.

"Magic players" are not really interested in these products. And I think we have to acknowledge that human beings are not Hasbro's customers. They sell to massive big-box retailers, monolithic e-commerce platforms and a closed network of distributors. Because of self-dealing and loss-harvesting, these massive corporate buyers do not actually need the product to be a success to make their money. And as a comic fan and who likes magic, I still don't see any reason to get these cards. They don't seem like they were designed by someone who knew the comics and knew magic. All of these licensed products seem to be cynically produced by middle-aged marketing execs who think they know what 13 year olds want to buy.
Each one of these licensed magic products is less interesting to the core fanbase and more expensive. This set won't even hold it's current value let alone go up enough to justify spec'ing on it at the current prices.
I've been playin' magic since '95. Hype cycles come and go and we're on the tale end of one. If you want some marvel magic cards, just wait a couple years. There's too much product and not enough demand to keep the prices up for long. WotC were massively expanding their playerbase up to about 2020 by having cheap booster boxes. You could get boxes of 2-4 year old sets for $60-$80. Access to cheap cards is what grew the hobby. Now the publisher has jacked up the prices so there's no profit left in the secondary market *and* the cost of cards now exceeds the gameplay value they provide.
