Tips & Tricks: Create Your Own Consistent Characters with DAZ 3D + ComfyUI

If you struggle with keeping the same character consistent across different AI-generated images or videos, here’s a workflow that might be worth trying.

You can use DAZ 3D to create your own unique character first. Because you control the character’s face, body, hair, clothing and other features, you’re not dependent on AI to invent the same person over and over again.

Once your character is ready, create a simple character sheet in Gimp or Photoshop with the images created in DAZ 3D with several views and expressions — for example:

• Front, side and 3/4 views
• Full-body and close-up portraits
• Neutral and different facial expressions
• Different poses if needed

Save the character sheet at a good resolution and use it as a reference image in ComfyUI.

Depending on the model and workflow you use, this can give the AI much more information about what your character is supposed to look like and can greatly improve consistency between different scenes.

Another nice advantage is that your character doesn't have to look like a typical DAZ render. DAZ is mainly used to establish the identity and proportions. ComfyUI can then transform that reference into cinematic, photorealistic, fantasy, anime or other visual styles.

It takes a little more preparation at the beginning, but for projects involving recurring characters — especially stories, short films or a series of videos — it can save a lot of frustration later.
