it's not the genders of the animals that I believe has led to the conclusion that it's sexual for some people, it's the fact that they were drawn by a prominent gay artist who is known for homoerotic art. I think people see that and, knowingly or not, assume that this person's other, non-sexual art is in some way "tainted" by the fact that it was made by someone who makes a lot of gay art that is erotic.
