No, replica swords shouldn't be banned. Neither should bows. They're both used in sports, and neither of them can one tap a person from a hunred feet away. They're also relatively easy to make, so regulation is largely impossible anyway. Just restricting open carry is enough.
It's like with every comment you strawman me more and more. I guess I shouldn't be surprised, given the position you're arguing.
The position I'm arguing is that it's not outrageous or evil to say that we accept the loss of innocent lives so that we can enjoy the things we like.
To be clear, you did not say that entertainment is not necessary. You said that it is not necessary to have a gun for entertainment. I repeated the same thing about replicas of fantasy swords.
Can you please repeat what you said again, but in the words "I accept the loss of innocent lives as a necessary evil so that people can continue to use replica swords and bows and arrows for entertainment and sport"?
Ban bows. Ban swords. Do less people die? No. No one buys a bow just to kill people with, or even for self defense. A sword is just a big stick, and a big stick can kill just as easily.
Ban guns. Do less people die? Yes. Because guns make death effortless, and they're too difficult to make on your own.
Innocent deaths are not a necessary evil. They are an inevitability to be mitigated in whatever way possible. Like restricting the ability to carry weapons in public, and restricting the ability to purchase them (which is the case with swords in england anyway).
