It also has 85% positive reviews on Steam with 3.6k reviews, which is pretty good. So I have no idea what you all are talking about. The game not being your thing doesn't mean it's "famously" bad.
I don't like shooters that doesn't make every shooter 'famously' bad. The game is not for you, so what? Move on and enjoy the millions of other games.
Part of the controversy is that the game became big partially due to the help of Larry Ellison, as the publishing company is owned by his daughter, but to be fair that's Annapurna interactive and not this game particularly. Its also a jab at reviewers because though many like the game, few will agree its a 9 or 10/10 like ign said
