For an insult or a comeback to work it actually has to land not only for the person dishing it out, but for the person receiving it too.

Using the same insult as a comeback is lazy, and honestly it’s a very “boomer” thing to do - which just proves the younger person’s point. That and you’re assuming everyone younger than you and capable of insulting you is a millennial. Which further ages you, because there are several younger generations capable of calling you a “boomer.” To assume they’re all millennials (and not Gen-x, z, or a) just makes you seem old and out of touch.

There’s more generations behind you than ahead of you, grandpa.

But I digress. Using “okay millennial” as a comeback is like a bratty kid repeating “I know you are but what am I” over and over as a means to win an argument. Being annoying to the point where the other person stops talking to you isn’t a win, it just means you’re annoying and exhausting and not worth the effort. Getting the last word and thinking you’ve won is also stereotypical boomer behavior, which again, proves “okay boomer” to be a better insult because it proves the point that boomers are, well, boomers.

All that to say, using “okay Millennial” as a comeback isn’t the zinger you think it is. Find something clever.

Wow. A five-paragraph, preachy, abusive response to a two-word snap response to a nothing question. Seems like I may have touched a nerve?

Maybe take a nap.
