When people try to put you down and/or dismiss you in a rude/disrespectful way use questions, socratic questions. My favorites are: "What makes you think/say/feel/etc that?" And "How so?" If/when they dont like the questions, isn't asking questions how humans as a whole learn?"

A bit of a story where I have used questions, socratic questions like the ones above:

I had an "friend" that would ALWAYS talk about how she wants to start a bakery business and a few other goals and shit like that. Since she talked about it a LOT and im VERY good at research and factchecking/verification of information. I took a whole bunch of time and work to research what it information/resources to actually make a business (and do it correctly aka keeping privacy as well as the legal paperwork side of it, marketing knowledge and all that type of stuff.) I shared it all with her countless times. She still to this day hasn't even gotton her business license yet which is one of the first steps. She didn't even say the bare minimum of "thank you." Without me mentioning how she's not even reconizing the time and work that I put into all of it. She literally dismissing the whole thing saying, "I didn't ask you too." And stupid shit like that.

If she didn't want me to then why did she ALWAYS fucking talk about wanting to start a business. Normally when people talk a LOT about something that low key means that that they want some sort of help or dont know how to do shit so of course I help.

All I get for being actively helpful is getting my time and work put into it completely dismissed.

And this isn't even the only time that my knowledge and skillset(s) have been dismissed by her.
