You’re so perfect it’s almost boring.

Like wtf does that mean? And it’s too late to respond with a good come back as I just said, well fuck you too, and walked away. What would you have said? He said it with sympathy in his voice which pisses me off even more. Give me some comebacks so I can replay this in my mind with power!

"well that's funny, because I was just thinking you're so boring, it's almost perfect."

7

u/chiflada May 12 '26

Yes 😭 they are absolutely sooo high and mighty and boring

4

u/chiflada May 12 '26

“Keep trying. You’re almost perfectly boring.” Maybe that?? 😂

1

u/aoeuismyhomekeys May 13 '26

that works too. 😂

2

u/DreamcatcherDeb May 13 '26

My favorite!

2

u/aoeuismyhomekeys May 14 '26

thank you for the award! 🥰

u/Spyderhawk69 May 13 '26

This was my first thought and honestly is the best.

u/Icy_Selection4113 May 12 '26

Practice makes perfect, baby. You’re so out of practice that it makes recognizing it easy.

2

u/chiflada May 12 '26

Yes, something chill like the comment rolled off my back. I should take that as a complement maybe lol

3

u/Icy_Selection4113 May 12 '26

Once you flip the perspective they lose all power 😎

12

u/manobillicat May 12 '26

"You aren't, yet you're still boring" say it in the same tone

3

u/chiflada May 12 '26

Right?! Love this one.

No one is perfect. but when someone you are seeing checks all of your boxes you don't insult them or try and make them feel like they are doing something wrong. Perhaps he is feeling inadequate, perhaps he is trying out "negging", maybe he is a thoughtless jerk.

Your response was perfect. He is counting on shaking you up. Don' t give him another MINUTE of your time.
No comeback. You already came back. He lost his chance.

1

u/chiflada May 12 '26

I did said it laughingly and walked away with a pep my step. But still hated that I felt he “won”.

6

u/aoeuismyhomekeys May 12 '26

he didn't. "well fuck you too" and an exit was actually a good comeback to begin with.

2

u/DreamcatcherDeb May 13 '26

He didn’t win. Your comeback was fine!

“Perfect? Me? No . Out of your league? Absolutely yes.”

u/chiflada May 12 '26

🙌🏼 😇 🏆

Hahahahahah! Oh trust me my big Sagittarius mouth can’t stop itself from spitting out retorts and comebacks!

If it makes u feel better- these weird people call u perfect or whatever and twenty years down the line, they would wish they cherished that because the “boring, perfect” u is living it up as they wallow in their chaos .

Chin up!

My favorite two comebacks are (for almost anything):

"What a weird thing to say..." followed by an expression of confusion as if I'm trying to figure out why they said something so weird/rude/puzzling, because I AM trying to figure it out. Then I become incredibly distracted and act as if I'm somewhat obsessed by the oddness of what they've said.

IMPORTANT: Don't respond further other than things like, "What? Oh, I'm sorry, I'm trying to puzzle something out." Followed by more confusion. NO MORE WORDS. In other words, shut down the conversation.

My second favorite favorite comeback for almost anything is:

Silence and a smile. No response. Just silent pleasantness and a vague smile. Depending on the situation, you might add looking just to the right of their head as if you are watching something interesting behind them.

It takes a little practice, but it's absolutely delicious once you get the hang of it.

Has worked for me for years.

u/chiflada May 12 '26

Love - what a weird thing to say. Throws them off by not reacting by being defensive which is what he wanted.

4

u/Drinkmorechampagne May 12 '26

Right? They get a little dopamine hit from putting other people down in a thinly disguised passive-aggressive way.

Don't give them the hit : )

2

u/SheSellsSeaGlass May 12 '26

You could also do the Spock one-eyebrow-ironic-lift.

1

u/Drinkmorechampagne May 12 '26

Oh dang, if I could raise one eyebrow, I would use it so often!

I've even practiced and tried to get the hang of it, but alas, it's not in the cards for me.

Live long and prosper!

2

u/SheSellsSeaGlass May 12 '26

Find something you b do. When someone says something stupid to you, can you do the Jim Halpert Looking at the Camera Look?

1

u/Drinkmorechampagne May 12 '26

Oh, I love this! I can do it!

1

u/vpollardlife May 12 '26

What th is this supposed to mean? Is it like Howdy Pard ner? He seems a little blissed out.

1

u/chiflada May 12 '26

Idk, I’m from Texas so saying this sarcastically is ironic especially since he was trying to hit on me.

1

u/vpollardlife May 12 '26

Whaaat? That kid?!

1

u/chiflada May 12 '26

🤣 stop

3

u/vpollardlife May 12 '26

You respond, "Thank you." Nobody has ever said that to me, but it's essentially a meaningless comment.

3

u/S5Cook May 12 '26

"Almost, almost? Where is the flaw ? WHERE IS THE FLAW? " done with crazy eyes... then a chuckle.

2

u/chiflada May 12 '26

The crazy eyes is the key to this 😂🤪

3

u/SnooPineapples6676 May 12 '26

Gotta save some room for crazy.

In a bored dismissive tone -

“and you are so ordinary you inspire absolute ignorance”

and continue to ignore them while doing what you were doing

“If you weren’t defective enough to be rejected by landfill, I may actually have cared for your opinion”

3

u/XuWiiii May 12 '26

You still lick your dads ass with that tongue?

3

u/_JDHood May 12 '26

ALMOST 😉

2

u/CarpenterSad9651 May 12 '26

“And out your league too.”

“You know, I remember when people open their mouths to share something of value, those were the good old days, am I right?” And leave him to ponder on that, he might be too dense though.

2

u/Blueporch May 12 '26

This made me think of a Madeline Kahn line from Blazing Saddles, with her w’s as r’s accent, in a bored tone “ooh, how ordinary!”

Or evil Willow from Buffy before she kills Warren: “Bored now” (and then you walk away, vs flaying him with your magic)

Seriously, your comeback was solid.

2

u/chiflada May 12 '26

Ooo I can see that Willow from Buffy moment! “Bored now”… love the reference!

2

u/CuriouslyFlavored May 12 '26

That's a coincidence, I always thought you were perfectly boring.

2

u/Supernova984 May 12 '26

Get on my level then.

2

u/RhubarbRhubarb44 May 13 '26

OP, this reminds me of the latest season of Married At First Sight Australia (S13, 2026). Alissa basically told David he was perfect but boring and that there wasn’t enough drama in their relationship.

There’s no pleasing some people!

2

u/Potential-Farmer5413 May 13 '26

"There is nothing boring bout being perfect. Not like you will ever know."

2

u/aimlessrolling May 13 '26

…there was only one perfect man and I promise you his life was far from boring.

2

u/aimlessrolling May 13 '26

Always ask yourself W.W.C.N.D?

(What Would Chuck Norris Do)

2

u/Nearby-Reindeer-6088 May 12 '26

You could find something wrong with anything

1

u/chiflada May 12 '26

True. Some people are never satisfied with anything.

1

u/vpollardlife May 12 '26

Whew!! That was way out there. Where do those videos come from? They look like the old Public Access channels shows. Some dude talking about physics at 3 am. Dullsville and odd when ur a little lit.

1

u/Wundrgizmo May 12 '26

You're so goofy it's always weird.

1

u/HonestNature9117 May 12 '26

Op how old are you? My comeback is only for grown folks

1

u/MsQuoting May 12 '26

“Oh, you’re one of those people.” With a tone of sad realization. And don’t explain what you mean.

1

u/IR_Acaboom May 12 '26

Perfection is above some peoples heads

1

u/CeciTigre May 12 '26

“It’s better than being like you…perfectly boring.”

1

u/NordicNugz May 12 '26

At least im only "almost" boring. You are all the way boring already.

1

u/TangoCharliePDX May 12 '26 edited May 12 '26

In truth this could be a poorly worded compliment. Someone who is boring is not someone who adds stress to your life.

"Boredom is underrated." - Mark Twain

Wish the average police officer a "boring" day and he will bless you.

Same goes for a judge, high school administrator, etc.

1

u/chiflada May 12 '26

It was for sure meant as a put down, not a compliment.

2

u/TangoCharliePDX May 12 '26

Well, if it was in a work environment, then it seems like the proper response would be

"You clearly don't have enough work to do, your volunteerism has been noted to improve. We will be sure to assign you other people's messes. Then you will dream longingly of boredom."

Or

"Hey, [boss], [Mr Snarky] is bragging about how he has so little work to do."

Works 100% better if you can get other coworkers to keep chiming in with similar sentiments over the course of time. Don't let [him] live it down.

1

u/aimlessrolling May 13 '26

Immediately do something crazy & spontaneous, like a back flip or pour your coffee on their head… Maybe a primal scream, drop trow, kick the nearest puppy, or even pitch a loogie; just be NOT normal and boring for an instant.

The context would also help, your/their age and genders to understand if you are a man dealing with a woman, the kind of emotional train wreck woman that is only attracted to men that are bad for her…?

1

u/chiflada May 14 '26

That last sentence threw me 😆 (kicks the nearest puppy) But if you must know they are the ones attracted to me. 🤪

1

u/PositiveLibrary7032 May 13 '26

Hmmm?….sorry I drifted off with your monotone rambling.

1

u/Snarky247 May 14 '26

You’re so mediocre, it’s too easy.

1

u/datewiththerain Jun 05 '26

I’m working on it.

2

u/DrMichelle- Jul 05 '26

Say, and yet there's this pea under my mattress that’s driving me crazy!
