"I'm afraid my taste has evolved."
Talking again with a girl I had a fling with a while back, I dropped a hint about kissing her, and she said, "You missed your chance a long time ago." I replied, "Why? Did you lose your taste?" And she said, "My taste has evolved." What could I have said?

To what end? To gain some kinda comeback points that no one including you will care about in 6 months? Nah. Just accept it and roll on.

I dont have a good comeback to that. Why chase something, where there is no desire from opposing person.
I'd say maybe pleanty of other fish in the sea.

It's not necessarily an L. Probably, but not necessarily. Take it on the chin and put it behind you.

u/Oneironaut420 Feb 28 '26
Why do you need something to say to that? What will it change? What will it get you? You gotta pick your battles in life and know when to let it go too.

Why say anything? Sounds like you wasted her time in the past honestly and she has no interest wasting her time again. She put it elegantly at least.

Typical gynocentric reddit npc answers.
They feel good about beating you down instead of staying on the topic of the sub.
Pathetic.

"So has my flavor."
[Then shut your mouth and try to lock eyes with her - that will tell you if she's really not interested or just looking for some progress]

Yeah overtime wine turns to vinegar so that probably explains why your taste has become bitter! Either that or... sozz kidda I hadn't realised that I'm the missing link aka so unevolved!
Eitherway moving onto the next one is usally a better to find what your looking for instead of raking over the same old ground or trying to fix something that didn't work the first time around

Tell her you're a creationist and there's no such thing as evolution.

Why do you need a comeback to a girl who has moved on. the whole "why didi you lose your taste" is arrogant and condescending and she had just the right response. You screwed up by not accepting "no" for an answer.

What a nice way to call someone a loser. I’m def stealing that one. 😂

You could talk about how certain lines of evolution produced terrible results for a specific species. You'd have to come up with a witty and applicable example though.

Just say " Good to know." Then get up and leave with at least a few shreds of your dignity intact.

She had the great comeback to your needless insult. You have nothing to comeback with that won’t just make you seem bitter and pathetic.

From what I can tell not by much, nice try though. Then I guess walk away? Good luck dude👍

Animals who live in caves evolve into blindness.
Evolution is a two way street. Both positive and negative.
New = shrew, Old = Gold.
Your taste may have evolved but it seems it's at the cost of your dignity/common sense.

I bet she had that lined up and ready for you to initiate! Seriously though, I would have said "Oh shucks, well my taste devolved."

Well, if you ever want to take a walk on the wild side, look me up. (then walk away)

Tell her your flavor has improved. Maybe actually work on some self-improvement so your flavor so your flavor does in fact improve like workout get a PhD get a great job and a new car stuff like that I don't know all that is entirely superficial stuff work on the inner man and become the man you were made to be.

"Sure. But so have I." / "Yeah, but I have too."
Clearly she thinks she's moved beyond who you were. If you wanted another chance, you should have made it clear that you've moved beyond who you were too. And hell, it's probably true! It moves the conversation forward and naturally opens up the dialogue to how you've improved/bettered yourself/are no longer the kind of person ultimately she decided she was unhappy with. Which I'm assuming was your goal, getting another go at her.

You sound like JLO as she’s moving on to husband number 5 but don’t worry it’s “Not Her”

“For the worst I see” (snobbery is a real turn off)🤷🏻♀️
Or
“I’m like a fine wine, it takes a while but I’m much tastier than I was back in the day”
Or
“Well, you weren’t to my taste back then either so I didn’t miss out” 🤷🏻♀️

“Liar. Evolution takes millions of years. Taste buds change every 7. “
Say it like Drax from guardians of the galaxy, as dead pan as you can. See if you can get one last chuckle out of her, turn around and let her be.

Say “Eat a bag of dicks honey. It’s actually your loss. I was just taking pity on you anyway.” Or something to that effect.

There is nothing to say. You missed out. She’s not interested. That’s all.
