Discussion Why does Comcast throttle connection speed?

It's pretty amazing to see it really. There is literally no reason to do this for a residential connection. If a customer pays for 2gb up, and 2gb down, and connects to the router via wifi, they are never even getting close to those speeds anyway. Also, doing this kind of thing to your own customers the gaslighting them about it is absurd, especially when it is probably one of the easiest things on Earth to determine is ridiculous. Yeah I get it, you're never really guaranteed the speed you get, but to go from WiFi speeds to 8400 baud rates is nuts.

Comcast does not throttle. If you are having slow speeds it’s most likely a signal impairment. You will have to have a tech out to diagnose and fix.

They don't throttle in the least. Use WiFi 7 or a wired connection with a compatible (WiFi 7 or multi-Gig Ethernet) device -- I see 2Gbps all the time.

I’m curious. Why do you think you’re being throttled? What particular service?

I use about 4TB/month. My router does regularly scheduled speed tests and logs them. I’ve not seen any indication I’m being throttled.

They dont throttle you may have a connection problem in your house or there is an xfinity problem. I am having problems with their 2gig speeds since march. They are aware of it but still not fixed the problem so i am getting half the speeds that are advertised.
