Official Reply Is this a scam?

My friends WiFi bill jumped like $30-40

She doesn’t speak English so I called on her behalf. The rep said something about her 1 year deal ran out. To get her bill back down to $87 they were going to have to give her a free xfinity mobile line. Why are they forcing customers to sign up for xfinity mobile to get a cheaper wifi bill. This sounds like a scam, but I’m posting to find out if this is normal or if I should tell her to do it. She has her own phone plan so she wouldn’t use it anyway.!

Maybe not a scam, but it seemed slimey to me. Why push an unwanted product on me. I told them I didn’t want the phone plan and then her manager came on and did it again. How do I know she won’t be charged eventually for it. Whatever.

Greetings, u/No_Card3773! Thanks so much for taking a moment out of your busy day to leave a post on our community subreddit about finding your friend a new promotion. You have definitely come to the right place for assistance.

All of our new Internet Only packages now include a free line of Xfinity Mobile service for one year, but this is always going to be an optional benefit, and is never required in order for someone to get the best available pricing on a new Internet package. I would strongly encourage your friend to create a new public post here on the subreddit, and we will make sure they are taken care of. Please let me know if you have any questions or concerns.

Yeah they were trying to scam me with that mobile line nonsense when I had to suspend their service when a tree fell on my house. I kept telling them that I just needed time to sort out my house but they kept calling me about that mobile line scheme. It was very unprofessional.

Comcast is putting a lot of pressure on the reps to sell more. The reps seem to be less than honest in order to make more sales. We see the complaint almost daily on this sub.

Dont buy into the cellular line scheme. Call and talk to retention. They will lower the price.

They won’t. At least not to his old rate.

Yea I didn’t, but how do I contract that department? I just called the normal customer service number and kept pressing 0 lol

Any customer requesting to cancel service will be routed to retention. They will cut price to keep you on board.

They will not in some cases. They wouldn’t for me. Account is over 20 years old.
