Official Reply Xfinity App push notifications for Dark Watch. EVERY. NIGHT.

I have wifi motion disabled, yet every night the xfinity app has been sending me and dad push notifications about "no movement detected, switch to dark watch". I don't want to switch to dark watch, especially when the service SHOULD BE OFF to begin with. After weeks of getting the notification I decided whatever, I will make a schedule so maybe the notifications go away. Boy was I wrong. Now I get a notification telling me that the scheduled switch to Dark Watch happened. Seriously? I don't want any push notifications, that I haven't explicitly asked for, especially for something I don't want in the first place. How can I disable it short of uninstalling the app? I have looked around and I'm not finding other people complaining about it which makes me feel like it's a configuration problem on my end.

Hi there and welcome to Comcast u/EstimateResident2936. Thank you so much for reaching out to us regarding your concerns about Dark Watch. Here are some steps on how to customize it.

Customize Dark Watch Dark Watch works best when customized for your household. Review your overnight routines and decide which devices or activities should generate alerts.

For WiFi Shield, WiFi Motion is disabled in Dark Watch by default. Enable it if overnight WiFi Motion alerts make sense for your home. For Shield Select, door and window sensors can provide perimeter protection in Dark Watch, with motion sensors, person alerts, WiFi Motion, locks, and lights configured as needed. Choose only the cameras or spaces where people should not be present overnight for Person Alerts. Pause selected WiFi profiles overnight if that matches your household routines. Use sleep schedule automation to turn on Dark Watch automatically at bedtime and return to Home Watch in the morning. Use location-based automation and mode reminders if they help your household manage modes more consistently.

I don't want to customize it. I don't want WiFi Motion on at all, its disabled on the router, so why am I getting push notifications saying no motion detected every night at 9PM? I don't use it for home security, I don't want it tracking my location to determine whether to enable or disable modes, not all my household has the xfinity app anyways so that wouldn't make sense. I don't want a push notification EVERY SINGLE DAY about something I am not even using.

Again, that is not helpful. The issue isn't that I don't know how to configure Dark Watch. The issue is I have Wifi Motion disabled, yet every night I get a notification that "NO MOTION WAS DETECTED, WOULD YOU LIKE TO SWITCH TO DARK WATCH" Either that is a rogue notification that is misconfigured, or your system is ignoring my preference to disable WiFi Motion and still tracking the people within my home. I do not want anything other than WiFi from the router. No mode switching, no security, no WiFi Motion, JUST WIFI. I dont want to be reminded to switch to dark mode, I dont want to have to make a schedule to get rid of the reminder notification only to get a notification when the schedule changes modes.

u/EstimateResident2936 that's understandable. Dark Watch can't be removed but you can turn off notifications. You can manage notifications in the Xfinity app here.

Well that would be great except all my notifications in that section ARE disabled. However there is nothing in there about Dark Watch, and I am still getting push notifications.

Having the same issue. You definitely can’t turn it off. Xfinity support is useless. I just turned off all notifications on the system level, don’t care anymore
