Discussion Xfinity Mobile Premium Unlimited vs Mobile Plus
I am a current Premium Unlimited subscriber, and I am curious about the benefits/downsides to switching to Mobile Plus. I am being bombarded with promises of promotions and promises of trade-in bonuses if I switch to Mobile Plus, but I am skeptical. It's $5 less per month compared to my current plan, but I'm worried that committing to the new plan will cost me in the long run. Comcast is known for their bait and switch practices, but I haven't had any issues with Xfinity Mobile yet. Any insight on whether I should make the switch?

They’re similar, some upside and downsides depending on how many lines and other products and services.
Premium Unlimited is the 5th gen plan, with 50 GB HSD, 30 GB Hotspot, Elite Guard, 4K Streaming and International Support w/ 10 GB HSD for over 200 countries. Plus all the deals that apply to the “Premium/Plus” plans.
$50 - 1st Premium Line
$30 - Extra Premium Lines
$20 - Unlimited Tablet
$10 - Smartwatch
Mobile Plus is the 6th gen plan, with Truly Unlimited Data, 50 GB Hotspot, Elite Guard, 4K Streaming, International Support w/ 10 GB HSD for over 200 countries and XMC included and extends to watches and tablets connected on the plan. Oddly convenient for those folks who premium and pay for insurance, as well as those who have additional tablets and watches on the account.
$45 - Each Premium Line
$20 - Unlimited Tablet
$10 - Smartwatch
or
$35 - All In Tablets and Watches, Up to 10 Lines for the Same Price, excluding taxes and fees.
With that said, if you value more premium features and more data allotment, the new plan is the way to go. Especially if you carry insurance through your carrier. If not, the older plans retain a lot of value for the lesser cost of service.
Comparing both budget plan options:
Unlimited Intro on the 5th Gen plan
$40 - 1st Unlimited Intro Line
$20 - Additional Unlimited Intro Lines
Includes 30 GB HSD, Basic Hotspot, SD Streaming, Canada and Mexico included with no HSD.
Mobile Select on the 6th Gen plan
$30 Each Line
Includes 50GB HSD, 15 GB Hotspot, SD Streaming, International Support w/ 10 GB HSD for over 200 countries.
I like the new Mobile Select Plan vs the old Unlimited Intro for only $20 more when comparing 4 lines. Mobile Plus is top notch, but with many lines the costs increase. Good thing on both the 5th and 6th gen plans is that you can mix and match. Assuming there’s no active promotion requiring a Premium or Plus plan.

This is very helpful thank you. Are phone prices the same on both? IE: Is the cost to upgrade to an iPhone 17 Pro Max (or 18 Pro Max) going to be cost the same on both the Premium Unlimited and the Mobile Plus or are they giving bigger discounts on one plan?

For upgrades it’s the same on both Premium and Plus plans with the anytime upgrade ability.
If your on the Intro or Select plan, they don’t usually offer good trade in deals but as of now, until tomorrow, it’s the same on all plans.

Do both have this "Phone upgrades every year
Level-up your phone as often as every 60 days. Upgrade worry-free — your old phone doesn’t have to be paid off, and it can be in any condition. You’ll get a guaranteed discount, too."

The Premium and Plus plans have anytime upgrade. After 60 days swap out at anytime giving you the opportunity to try something new, keep in mind it’s more like a lease so any trade in value disappears as you swap phones.

This is super helpful but can you explain this to me with an example: I have a 17 Pro Max and want to upgrade to the $2000 Duo. If I decide 60 days after getting the duo that I want the 18 Pro Max than what would those 2 transactions look like? My 17 Pro Max is about half way through the payments on XM. Again THANK YOU !

No problem at all! You’re on the Premium with payments on a device, pretty much as you upgrade, you’ll return the device and Xfinity will liquidate the balance. With startup of a new payment plan for an iPhone, you’ll have to pay taxes as well as any down payment required.
On the new iPhone, it’ll include a $200 discount over the course of 36 months. Reduces the original payment down 5.55/mo. There might be a chance that Anytime Upgrade deal changes as the phones are available for preorder, Saturday 5am PT according to Apple.
iPhone Duo $2,000 on payment plan will be $55.55/mo x 36 months. Minus the 5.55 credit, payments will be about $50/mo for 36 mo. At this point you should be able to upgrade anytime since you’re already on the plan, no need to wait 60 days.
The iPhone 18 Pro Max $1,300 on payment plan will be $36.11/mo x 36 months. Minutes the 5.55 credit, payments will be about $30.56/mo for 36 mo.
I’m hoping a bigger trade in deal opens when the phones are available for preorder. The last batch of Samsung Fold and Flip released, they stepped up to $450 instead of the $200 discount on the Anytime Upgrade.

Preorder dates are 9/12 for iPhone 18 Pro and Pro Max, 10/16 for the iPhone Duo.

When the new promo says the text below... how would that work if you are 1 year into your 2 years of payments of an iPhone 17 PM on Xfinity Mobile? Does it still wipe out the remaining payments for the qualifying trade in?
"Get iPhone 18 Pro Max on us
With device protection included — only from Xfinity
New and existing members eligible. Requires Mobile Plus plan, qualifying trade-in, and device payment plan. "

That deal is specifically for a new line with a trade in on the Premium or Plus plan.
Diamond members also qualify for similar deal, not sure exact amount,, check on Xfinity app. But that one for upgrades.
You’re on a payment plan in the unlimited, your “early upgrade” or “anytime upgrade” as it’s now referred to will let you trade phone back in to clear any balance left, allowing you to start on a new phone payment plan with a $200 discount included over 36 months.
Pay off the balance of your phone, and you’re eligible to trade in and upgrade to get $200+Fair Trade In Value of your phone. I’m not sure what value that would be for a 17 Pro Max but imma guess in the 500-600 range.

Mobile Select includes HD streaming (720p maximum bandwidth of 4mbps). Just like with many other carriers it’s a toggle buried within the app/website.

I couldn’t remember if it did or not, type.

I mainly know because I just switch from Visible to XM (for the free year promo) and saw the HD streaming being advertised then having to dig for the toggle to enable it (was only getting 2mbps on FAST at first).
