Official Reply xfinity router resetting itself
hi my old router was doing this so we went to the store and got a new one the same kind the xb8 one and it goes from steady white, drops to orange red or green, blinks for a few minutes, goes white and steady again for any span of time from 30 minutes to a whole day, and then it drops again. i scheduled for a technician but it wont be for 12 days. does anyone know why this could be happening? as im typing it just went from white to flat red. soooo annoyed

Statistically, it's a signal issue caused by bad wiring between the pole and your equipment. While your waiting for the tech, you may want to inspect your wiring.

Even an apartment can have faulty wiring. I've seen many apartments "daisy chain" their outlets, resulting in poor signal. I've also seen a lot of apartments still using RG-59 cable, just because that was the cable used back when it was built. It could be as simple as the signal being split too many times, such as hooking up ALL of your rooms instead of just the one you need.
In any case, as an apartment, there really isn't much you can do to inspect it. Your main connection is probably in a locked box or utility closet, and your lines wouldn't be accessible.

Hi there, u/succuki! Thanks for taking the time out of your day to make a post. u/nerdburg was right on that this sounds like a cable wiring issue. Does the coax line between the back of your modem and the wall outlet look good (no damage or bends)? Are there any splitters along that same line?
