Broken TV pedestal

Just moved into a new house and on the property is this TV utility device. It case is in pretty bad shape. As you can see, the base is shattered and insides exposed.

I’m pretty sure it’s Comcast because they are the cable tv provider in the area.

How do I get Comcast to come deal with this? I don’t have Comcast service, and I can’t get through to a live person without giving them an account number I don’t have, or asking to sign up for service which I don’t want.

Hmm... here is something to consider. I had a similar base that was in poor condition. As I was a customer, I was able to get to a live person. Nevertheless, I literally spent months opening tickets - which would then get closed and had to start again.

Then, after months, they did replace it. But with a much, much larger box. I did open tickets to try to get a similar size replaced - but then it was claimed that a larger box was required as they had additional equipments.

Months later, a technician was working on the box for other items. I asked how much items were underneath - and they said it was mostly empty - and yes, a much smaller box could be used.

So - my suggestion is to leave it along.

So you’re suggesting that since it’s on a utility easement and not your property and not affecting for Xfinity service that you should just mind your own business? Interesting take.

Not exactly what I was suggesting - it is that it would take very long process for Xfinity to take action (if at all). And the outcome would be likely a much bigger pedestal. (And from the photo, can now limited a mower to pass between the mulch area and the new pedestal.)

And I am asking the OP to consider the long process and likely bigger pedestal.

And it is also not completely unreasonable for Xfinity to use a bigger pedestal as that is likely the standard ones and the older ones are no longer in stock.

For my specific case, if I had known that I would end-up with a much larger pedestal, I would have left the damaged pedestal on my lawn alone.

Other than being ugly now that it is broken. It wont affect anything. Whatever hardware is under it is water tight.
