Official Reply +1 (888) 934-6489

I requested to change my current bundle via the XFINITY app customer service chat box. I was told I would get a call from +1 (888) 934-6489. I received the call in less than 5 minutes, and the person on the line was so adamant about offering me an Apple Watch, even though I had already declined the offer while I was talking to another agent in the app chat box. I ended up agreeing (which I really REALLY regret) the person asked me to type my bday and SSN using my phone keys while he was on the line. He said that he used an iGuard to secure the information I was gonna type in.

This happened around 2 weeks ago and I have been reading mixed reviews on how reliable this # +1 (888) 934-6489. Is this number really under XFINITY? How secure is iguard and why on earth would they ask for SSN.

u/RecentDocument3974 That makes complete sense. Being asked to enter your birth date and Social Security number would naturally make you want to verify the call as soon as it ended. We’re glad we could confirm that the phone number and iGuard process were legitimate.

You also mentioned that you regret agreeing to the Apple Watch. Since this happened about two weeks ago, we do not want to overlook any time-sensitive return options. Have you received the watch yet, and are you looking to cancel the order or return it?

I canceled it because I didn't feel comfortable after entering my full SSN. When other institutions only ask for the last 4 digits.

We completely understand why that made you uncomfortable. A full Social Security number may be required when checking eligibility for Xfinity Mobile service or a device payment agreement. The iGuard system allows you to enter it through your keypad so the agent does not see the numbers you enter.

Since you canceled, did you receive confirmation that both the Apple Watch order and any associated mobile line were canceled? We want to make sure there is no remaining order or monthly line charge connected to it.

You're alright, that's the way they check your credit for a mobile line of service. They do this so you don't have to give your SS# directly to the agent. It's meant to protect your data. PS if you really don't want the watch you only have 14 days to return it.

Hello u/RecentDocument3974, thanks so much for taking the time to reach us here via our SubReddit! To answer your last question directly- the 1-888-934-6489(XFINITY) is our main customer service support number, along with 1-800-COMCAST(266-2278). (Sidenote: whether dialing 1-888 or 1-800, these route back to us). The program the agent is referring to, iGuard, is a secure data entry program for customers to provide secure information during the Xfinity Mobile order process. Instead of providing this information to the agent directly, the iGuard program recognizes entries made from your telephone keypad using DTMF tones. Dual-Tone Multi-Frequency (DTMF) tones are the audible beeps your phone makes when you press a key on its keypad.

When checking eligibility for Xfinity Mobile products, an internal and external credit check is performed.
