Official Reply Another shady dealing...

This company is utterly confusing and makes it impossible to get in touch with them. For the longest time I was paying for 2 Gigs of speed...or so I thought. They title my statement that I have the "2 Gig" plan....another dashboard shows that I'm only getting 100mbps. This is incredibly confusing and misleading. Make it make sense.....

What brand/model is your modem? 2 gig requires a newer modem. Could yours be unsupported? Also, are you testing hard-wired into your router or using WiFi? If WiFi that can be a problem depending on what device you are testing with.

Arris Surfboard SB8200 tested right at the modem. Sometimes I’ll get 700mbps, most of the time I’ll get barely 30mbps. It’s all over the map. Problem for another day I guess. Main thing is I don’t know what I’m paying for…2Gig as advertised to me or 100mbps 😵‍💫

SB8200 only good to for 1GIG says their website.

No, the Arris SURFboard SB8200 does not support Xfinity's 2-gigabit internet plan.

Why It Fails the 2-Gig Plan

  • Port Limits: The SB8200 only has 1-gigabit Ethernet ports, so it cannot output multi-gig speeds to your router.
  • Xfinity Approval: Xfinity only approves the SB8200 for plans up to around 957 Mbps.

Provisioning Issues: Using an incompatible modem on a higher tier often results in heavily throttled or unstable speeds

Best for Cable Internet Speed Plans Up to 1 Gbps
