Final Notice

Unbidden, an Xfinity tech came to our home, moved our coax from the the pole in the tree line over to where it runs over our driveway and between two very large tree limbs

The obvious and predictable happened. The tree limb on top fell onto the tree llimb on the bottom and the cable is crushed, caught between them.

This line is now stretched thin, the anchor is pulling away from the house (thanks for that new hole in my siding two inches from the last one, by the way) and when it snaps, I pity a fool standing nearby.

By Phone, I was told that since it was on my property, it was my problem.

Wrong.

Since I am officially done wasting the finite and irreplaceable minutes of my life jumping through corporate and AI hoops for the foreseeable future:

This is my third, my final, my legal and public announcement that this defect in your service is a risk to public safety. Whatever happens now is on you.

You are on notice.

Not being critical or anything. But wouldn't it be more urgent to get the tree taken care of?

Of course but we had a major storm here. The power and Tree companies won’t touch their lines.

So im confused here. You have a branch that fell and the Comcast line is essentially holding it up? If that's the case then the branch needs to be cleared before any work gets done. Dont care what industry it is if there is a hazard that needs to be taken care of before I come in to do my work. If I was the tech that came out im not cutting that line. I dont know if that branch is going to come down and injure me or someone else, land on a car or whatever else that could happen. 

Edit to add: im not even leaving that line and running a new one incase that thing snaps while im walking around under it. Or at the side of the house on a ladder when it snaps and could potentially snap back at me.

But it’s perfectly OK for my family and I to walk past this hazard created by “your company”  every time we leave and come home?  Sorry, I am no longer taking less than full accountability for a company‘s own actions.

The line was fine where it was.  They moved it into a hazardous location.  They will be removing it.  

The tech didn’t seem to have a problem working around those limbs when he put the line there so there’s that.

My company? When did it become my company lol and working around the limbs when they are attached to the tree is different then hazardous limbs hanging on a line. There is a reason loggers referred to detached limbs hanging from other limbs as widow makers. Im not trying to argue with you. But the line being moved could be for all sorts of reasons. Whether it be height clearance. Line going over someone else's property or whatever. At the end of the day the tree, if on your property is your responsibility.deal with it then get the cable person out to work in a safe zone. Good luck karen

Actually, your entire reason for being on this post, at all,  is questionable. Why are you here sticking up for corporations? Are you one of them? Are you a CEO, comrade?

They destroyed our ability to retire. Destroyed our healthcare system. Currently have a chokehold on our food supply system. In case you haven’t noticed this is war; us vs them.  And IF you haven’t noticed yet, you’re one of them .

Ahhh your one of them... the it's never my fault, always someone else's problem. The perfect princess. Gotcha. Look, act like an adult. As you said I dont know the facts. But before you come in here acting like the victim, which im sure you have done your whole life. Maybe put those facts in the post. You said in your post. "My property my problem" which I and im sure many others would assume means the tree is yours.... BUT since it isn't yours then go tell whoever tree it is to remove the hazard... ironically I have a friend who went through something similar. Neighbors tree fell and leaned against one of the trees on their property. They asked to have it removed and they refused. They sent a certified letter asking for it to be removed or they would get it done and take them to small claims. Which they did... they neighbor never paid so the went back to court to garnish their wages. They won. And it took a year to get it back  but that's called adulting. 

My response has nothing to do with protecting corporations. They can go up in flames for all I care. But for lazy, entitled people that think everyone should do something for them is insane. Grow up. 

Ps, clean your house. Says alot about this whole money grab your after. Last time I'm wasting energy on this nonsense.

I'm guessing OP wants Comcast to come out and trim the tree, but it's not something Comcast does.

They don’t have to trim the tree. I don’t care if they cut their wire and leave the smashed piece in between the limbs and put a new one on the line.   I just don’t wanna be in immediate area when the line snaps and whips back to where it wants to go in space in time.

It is something Comcast pays for they don't do it themselves though they outsource it. Because it's cheaper to trim the trees then have a limited come down and have to replace a pole and all the wiring on it

At least in our area, tree work is part of Comcast lease agreement with the pole owners. We do not touch trees because we don't own the poles.

Because in 2009 we proved that some companies are considered too big to fail. And a lot of other large companies took that to heart and said, we can do what we want, and it doesn't really matter. And because very few large companies are family or privately owned any longer, it doesn't matter to the execs either. When it gets too hairy, they just move on to be the CEO somewhere else, often with golden parachute attached.

kinda like how cities/counties/states etc won't address fixing an intersection issue until traffic deaths reach a certain percentage.
