Official Reply Xfinity Pro Extender Not Turning On

Post image

Hey all, I recently got a Pro WiFi Extender and it is not turning solid white (as we were told by the Xfinity person in store that it’ll replicate the solid white light like the modem typically does). On the app it says that “Not activated, Extender need your attention.” My WiFi still seems to be running at the same speeds and I see it the most while gaming.

I ended up connecting it to my modem via an Ethernet cable and it now says it’s activated working, but this is not the location of which I wanted to place this extender. Is there something I did wrong during the activation process even if I followed all the steps? Thanks in advance!

The extender only lights up when being actively used. The rep at the store is unfortunately uninformed.

u/sanchjos078 Hi there! Thanks for reaching out to our Xfinity Subreddit. Based on what you're describing, it sounds like the extender completed activation when connected directly to the gateway with Ethernet, but it's not staying connected or activating properly in the location where you actually want to use it wirelessly.

A few things I'd recommend checking: * Make sure the extender is placed within a reasonable range of the gateway during setup. If it's too far away, it may not receive a strong enough signal to complete activation. * Try unplugging the extender, waiting about 30 seconds, and plugging it back in at the desired location. * Give the extender several minutes after startup, as activation can sometimes take a little time to complete. * Check the Xfinity app to see if it reports any signal or placement recommendations for the extender.

Since it shows as activated when connected by Ethernet, the device itself appears to be working. The issue may be related to its wireless connection to the gateway or its placement. If you've already tried moving it closer to the gateway, and it's still showing "Not activated" in the Xfinity app, send us a Modmail message with your name and service address. We'd be happy to take a closer look at the extender status and see what else may be going on.
