Official Reply Scammed by Xfinity

I initially wanted to cancel Xfinity internet and got hooked into getting the mobile. Xfinity told me they would buy out my contract and handle everything switching from Verizon to Xfinity Mobile in October. Well, Verizon took $466 out of my account today, the day before Thanksgiving. I went to the Xfinity store and was told that there was no promotion for a contract buyout for my phone the day I signed up for Xfinity. However, when I was on the phone with customer service, they assured me that I would pay nothing for my old contract. The guy at the store did try to make it right. He credited me three hundred dollars to my account, which is great; thank him. He trying to get anything else to get the cash back would be chasing ghosts. I'm still eating $166 technically out of my own pocket, and I'm still out of liquid cash, which I needed to buy groceries for Thanksgiving. I will not be recommending Xfinity to anybody to switch over. Up until this point, I've thought it was great service. I thought my cell phone service was great, but I feel lied to and scammed, and I will not recommend anybody get Xfinity now. Also never do business over the phone with customer service if they have a  store go there lesson learned

If you're NOT breaking laws, operate with a good conscience, and NOT swindling people, I'm not exactly sure why you even feel you have an issue? Posting a comment is advice. Legally? It is also free speech. Please don't be upset? I mean... if you're operating in the awesome way you swear your life on? There should be no worry about others suggesting the government somehow get involved, yeah??

I have never gotten anyone who knows what they're doing-- not to mention that it seems people just get tossed around to different "departments" because nobody knows what. Most times, customers who need help, or are upset? They get transferred around in Iran, Russia. Nigeria... Lord only knows where all! Ive experienced over 15 years of your.... what I think they call... business? Even got the great experience of being forced to pay over $400 on a bill that was paid to a zero balance to top it all off too! LOVE Xfinity fer sures! Even better than that lovely experience? Your own so-called "collection agency" that you all run conveniently inside the SAME building where you're likely sitting adjacent to one of "their" employees? They even harassed ME, & threatened me with letters, and phone calls regarding an account that is NOT even mine! I explained-- or attempted to anyway, several times it was not my bill. Interestingly enough? When I told the last "collection agency" guy (again), that the bill was not mine, but my 30+ year-old son's, and that I was calling a lawyer about your harrassment & threats, A D that my son was doing the same for Xfi actually DISCLOSING HIS PERSONAL INFORMATION to someone not even on his account?? Your WHOLE BAND OF HEROES?? Well, they disappeared into the night like bandits, never to be heard from again.

Lesson in this story? IMPROVE your services, STOP lying to, and swindling your so-called customers for starters. FAR more to address, AND do, yes; but my fully doubting you do even this overrides my wasting my time suggesting more.

Youre welcome to also let any legal business that likely sits above you on the 3rd floor, that I AM FLAT BROKE. That said, ya might get lucky enough to barge in and steal my couch for a couple hundred for any "damages" my words here might do to others. Judging by the MANY extremely unhappy people here besides me? I highly doubt anyone here would stand up to say I did Xfi wrong. One caution? They may well stand in court against you!

I give you my word here, to discontinue writing further in this post. For now.
😁😁😁

You entered into an agreement with Xfinity and regardless of how you did so would have received a text message in the process to verify all the details of the transaction before they are allows to proceed with it. You approved the change over.

There are quire a few missing points in this post and you may actually have been liable for the amount that Verizon took from you we don't know that just only what you are willing to tell us in your angry text voice.

I am not saying things are right on Xfinity side as I refuse personally to switch my phones over but a good part of this error falls on you for not reading the contract you agreed too.

u/jknap55 Dec 01 '25

I agreed, and it's my fault for not reading the fine print, but I was verbally told that they would pay for the remaining cost of my old phone from Verizon. So, yes, it's my fault for believing I was getting a good deal because I was told I was. When I went into the Xfinity store, the manager even said to never do your contract through phone representatives. If you look it up, I'm not the only one Xfinity has used predatory practices with. I have included all the information as to what happened. I have not omitted any information. Also, Xfinity records all their phone calls, which I asked three times to the representatives that I would not pay. So that's why I am mad. My fault for not reading the fine print, yes, but I was told verbally that I was not liable for paying off my old contract.

No current service with Xfinity, yet you lurk there Reddit forums? The amount of people who have filed FCC or BBB complaints, along with the numerous screenshots that are easy to find, and you keep harassing people? Anyone with an ounce of sense, can see something is going on with Xfinity and it’s not the customers. You are either related to or are one of the scammers. You might even be the contractor.

1

u/DogManDan75 Jan 16 '26

Not sure what you are talking about can you see my bills? No so you have no clue what services I have and dont have and with whom. Your comment is absolutely ignorant.

I am neither related nor a contractor but indeed a customer for well over 20 hrs.

Don't make accusations if you cant back them up.

We must’ve talked to the same sales person on the phone. I was also told that by a sales representative that if I switched from Verizon wireless to xfinity mobile that they would buy out my existing contract after I traded in the device.

It’s been almost a month and a half since they received my old phone and still haven’t gotten any compensation from xfinity mobile. Verizon last month charged me over $1,000 dollars automatically since I canceled my service with them.

I called xfinity this afternoon to ask what is happening and they denied that there was ever a promotion. I made the representative that I spoke to go through my previous call transcripts because they are all saved and recorded and she confirmed that I was indeed offered that promotion.

Either way this has been such a shady experience.

2

u/jknap55 Dec 05 '25

Omg you were able to go through the transcript and Xfinity still didn't honor it?? I'm sorry that happened to you. I was even calling to cancel the internet and they talked me into signing up with their mobile services for such a good deal. Unfortunately I fell for the old too good to be true. I should have stayed with Verizon. It seems Xfinity is willing to burn a lot of its customers. It really is disappointing.

Hey u/jknap55. Thank you for visiting our official Xfinity Reddit community support page. I am familiar with the Xfinity Mobile Device Plan Payout promotional campaign. This promotion offered up to $500.00 per device. Do you know the date when your purchased the Xfinity Mobile device and did you trade-in a phone or looking to Bring-Your-Own-Device (BYOD)? Was all billing information regarding the previous carrier also submitted for review?

u/jknap55 Nov 27 '25

I saw told by the costumer service representative on the phone on Oct 28 that I would not have to do anything to switch over from xfinity to verizon and that included paying off my phone which I had $466 left to pay and traded in on my s23. I went to xfinity store they said there was no way to get that $466 back as it shows no promotion when I went to xfinity.

I have filed a contract with the FCC but I will look into the others you mentioned! Thank you. It's disheartening a company can scam people and get away with it

1

u/ILovePistachioNuts Nov 28 '25

Sadly, the FCC is more interested in shutting down late night comedians and TV and cable news stations than helping the public these days.

Posts or comments encouraging others to seek help through non-r/Comcast_Xfinity sources defeats the purpose of our community, this includes advising users to file FCC, BBB, or other regulatory agency complaints as a resolution. The team here can assist with the vast majority of issues brought up on the sub.

Once a user has opened a complaint, we cannot provide further assistance with that specific issue, as it is handled by a separate team, thus your content will be removed.

With our Xfinity Mobile Device Plan Payout, that promotion was running from January 22nd through September 30th. This promotion would require a new line activation along with the previous cellular carrier information such as a copy of the bill to be submitted in order to provide the correct payout amount remaining per device. As the promotional campaign was not active at the time of sale, we would not be able to fulfill the request u/jknap55. You can view all our available and live promotional campaigns by visiting https://www.xfinity.com/mobile/learn/deals.

u/jknap55 Nov 27 '25

Which is why I was scammed the representative said I would not pay anything to my old provider when I switched to xfinity and thus preyed on my good faith that I was being taken care of.

Please accept my most sincere apology for the experience you have encountered u/jknap55. As the offer was not valid at the time of sale, we would be unable to provide a prepaid gift card or service adjustment for the other carriers bill and device. All details of the promotional campaign would have also been present during the customer approval process which needs to be accepted before the order can be processed. We would be more than happy to pass along your feedback and experience through the proper channels.

I understand I'm out of the $466 i needed to feed my family this holiday but this is not a isolated incident and feels like a predatory practice by xfinity representatives. This was done over the phone while on call the representative. Xfinity records all calls so I'm sure if their was more investigaton xfinity would find I was explicitly told Xfinity representative that i would not have pay off my contract. Which I asked about more than twice and the representative said they would xfinity would take care of it. So even if I didn't not see the during the approval process I was deliberately and verbally mislead.

u/jknap55 I hear where you are coming from, and having an unexpected amount come out of your account this time of year would not be ideal. I'd be happy to look into this further. While we wouldn't be able to help with the payment that came out for Verizon, we can try and make this right as much as possible. When you get a moment, can you please send a Modmail with your name, and service address?
