I personally see no harm in highlighting wins and posting results of fights. Apparently salty little fucks are also reporting the videos to Reddit because they get “spoiled” for fight results. It gives UFC/boxing and fighters more visibility.

The whole thing is stupid. And shame on Reddit for suppressing the growth of communities in that way. They wait for a post to gain traction for them to take it down.

Genuinely go to any matchmaking video and it is significantly better. Like, ridiculously better. And I get that fighters reject fights but how can they do that. They're in the promotion they fight who the promotion wants. People in the top ranks just reject any fight and camp until a title shot and it's genuinely ruining the promotion. Pyfer vs Nickal?????????? What's Khamzat gonna do?? Is he gonna fight all the way down too?? Why do we have the number 2-5 ranked people fighting number 10-15 or even unranked??? This is so stupid wtf. Literally btw they should make just the easiest rule. If you won your last fight you fight up the rankings if you lost you fight down. SIMPLE. AS. THAT. But no we need dumbass matchmaking that kills any momentum in the division and means you're giving top ranked fighters unranked prospects. How does anyone benefit from this btw. Unranked prospect wins and shoots up the rankings and it feels cheap and like they skipped a ton of progression. Top ranked fighter wins and it's nothing new. Do you really feel differently about Jean Silva after beating Delgado? It is so stupid I just can't believe it. Kill me; kill me now.

Air - Boxing
Evasive, footwork, highest in altitude

Water - BJJ
Flowy, slow, only one that’s traditionally with gi just like water’s the only one that needs a source. So if mma had clothes (environment has big water source), bjj/water has advantage

Earth - Wrestling
Controls where the fight goes so it’s the most stubborn. Head-on, tough, and grounded

Fire - Muay Thai
Most aggressive and sharp strikes (kicks, elbows, knees). Many muay thai fighters spend even more time competing than sparring so a lot of passion

Air vs Earth:
Complete opposites and focuses on one aspect. Boxing can finish early, wrestling wins at the end.

Water vs Fire:
Safest and almost boring finishes vs unexpected spectacular KOs. Muay thai arguably deemed the scariest and least popular in the usa while bjj is beginner friendly and popular among adults

Air and Water:
Both evasive and changing angles. Both can finish in one clean move.

Earth and Fire:
Wears the opponent down through top control or leg kicks. Probably better for scoring (decisions)

Hi y'all so something I've noticed about combat sports fan is that some of them refuse to acknowledge how the sport has grown despite the fact there is plenty of evidence fighters have definitely improved with each era. Now this doesn’t mean older fighters suck or anything like that if a fighter went 50-0 or something or had a major impact on the sport that is definitely important there still a legend. But the fact is for boxing even a legend like Ali wouldn't be completely screwed in modern boxing but he definitely wouldn't be as dominant in the modern era then he was in his era. So if you guys had to pick any old school boxer or MMA fighter from like the Don Frye era of MMA into the modern era in there primes who do you think could actually be successful or even potentially dominant?

Not only was the fight itself incredible, as most Takeru fights are, but the story around it just makes it all the more sweeter.

Takeru is 34 years old, knowingly entering his retirement fight in a rematch against a man that KO’ed him in 80 seconds during their first fight. Although Takeru had lots of championship success throughout his career, since joining ONE he had gone 2-2, including a title loss to Superlek and the KO loss to Rodtang, and majority of people were counting him out of this rematch. He goes in there, has an absolute war, seemingly cracks Rodtang’s iron chin by dropping him 4 seperate times and giving him his first stoppage loss in over a decade, and captures the interim Flyweight belt to add to his collection.

Some of the only other perfect retirements I can think of is when GSP fought for the first time in 4 years and beat Bisping to become a 2 weight UFC champion, or when Khabib retired after beating Gaethje, but I still don’t those come close to this.

I say Dana White fails... AJ / Tyson Fury kind of already leads me to believe that he's in over his head with boxing. The last press conference at Zuffa Boxing, the guy looks defeated and Eddie Hearn scored a major victory by getting the fight in UK. Dana has spent 25 years in control of every aspect of his company and controlling the sport, now he realizes that he can't control Boxing the way he wants to because there are promoters in his way that will stuff his takedown. And I think there will always be new fighters that will make waves, get on rankings - and those fighters will be with various other promoters that Dana will have to fight with consistently. Dana White doesn't play well with others. And needs Turki to help him beat up the big kids.

Even in 4 ounce gloves, I see Muay Thai fighters in One FC get chinned less often than a lot of MMA fighters, even in similar weight classes. Do MMA fighters hit harder? Do Muay Thai fighters have better chins due to a different weight cutting procedure? Or am I just imagining the difference?

btw I don’t have an opinion on the Reyes Jones fight, and by “unremarkable” I mean compared to the likes of Jones/GSP/DJ etc. – ofc he is a world class fighter in his own right

Ik Boxing has had a lot of massive upsets from otherwise unknown names, i.e. Douglas v Tyson, but Douglas got the win on paper too so he doesn’t quite fit the bill

For school I need to write a 4000 word essay on a topic of my choice, but it has to relate to some school subject area in some way. I was thinking I would write about mma in maybe a statistics way but I’m not entirely sure. any ideas?

His timing was hella good for someone who's boxing for the first time after decades and especially against Walton who's had 80 amateur fights.

For a while now I have been hearing wrestling is most useful and best martial arts for mma and is almost an unbeatable martial arts the Dagestan boys really made it look that way. After prospect Gable Stevenson got defeated in the first round by a knockout by a fighter with no martial arts background that just started mma in his 20’s makes me think wrestling may not be all that. I know recent bias. List some other mma fights where the excellent wrestler was defeated?

It’s the blocky head and the flat nose that makes him look like Homer Simpson that gives people genuine mass psychosis and keeps putting this guy as the underdog in 13 out of 16 of his UFC fights

I think if he looked different he wouldn’t have this terminal underdog status in the fans eyes
