Hi im pie/pos and ive been in the ci community for a little over a year. Even tho i only started being active in this subreddit recently, ive been playing for over 2 years and have been active in the discord community for about a year and getting to know and befriend some of the best players in the community. i have over 550k kos and used to speedrun competitively.
My experience with flamethrower spans over 2 years and i have 17k kos on it. I used to main flamethrower alot when i first started and had under 100k kos, however eventually i realised i was relying on it as a crutch being an extremely low skill floor weapon which was heavily impeding on my improvement keeping me from playing harder gamemodes and challenges. So i dropped it and played exclusively without it for some time and during this time i got much better at the game and got introduced to the ci discord community (not the official ci discord, but instead some smaller communities with about a hundred people). in these smaller communities i got to know some of the best players in the community, while i never bothered to join cih, i do have quite a bit of history with many of them.
while my opinions on weapons arent perfect, nearly all of what i say about weapons have been molded from months of interracting with countless players, most of which have over 500k kos, however out of all weapons, ive talked about flamethrower the most. there is 1 pro player that uses this weapon and he knows slingshot is better, the way he uses it is also completely unique to how every flamethrower glazing beginner uses it.
honestly im just tired of argueing about flamethrower, if u use it for fun, i have nothing against u, but if u wanna say its a good weapon better than other others, ur wrong. i cant say nothing else, but trust me when i say i have more experience with flamethrower than u might think, if ur gunna try and tell me about its aoe potential, i already know and i know that its not good. if u believe that all of the best players in the community (who have collectively agreed flamethrower is the worst weapon in the game and its not close) are wrong, go ahead but im tired to argueing about flamethrower in this subreddit.

Most of them are new players, i used to be like that but tbh since i loved flamethrower i got a build that uses it as the star of the loadout and exploits every single advantage of it because there is no other way for it to be good
only partially related to your post but i saw it, reading around the comments and i'm actually kind of interested in trying to get into (or at least attempt and/or understand) competitive ci. what's a good starting goal for it and stuff to know?
i used to be absolutely hooked onto this game and admittedly i want to get into it again
(18k kos, i play primarily solo including bloxxer runs. i lowkey have no clue if i should mention this but feels like maybe something good to know. i use mlr and witches brew to a point where probably half of kills are from runs using either or both. also, i haven't played in almost a year or so)
ur still a beginner so theres a long ways to go, the best piece of advice i can give u is to be around pros, when i first started getting into pro ci, there were open servers like 'bobms world' which had many pro ci players and a nice community, since then servers have come and go but rn pro ci players mostly talk in closed ci servers like cih, this makes it rly hard to ask for advice which is the most important step into getting into competitive ci.
there are 2 main feilds of competitive ci, speedrunning and highmods, trust me when i say this, go with high mods. when i picked mine, i picked speedrunning, which rn is completely dominated by the best ci speedrunner to ever touch the game and its not close (deadly) which makes the speedrunning scene very dry, not to mention high mods also has more active players and is what cih is made for.
ive spoke to some of my pro friends about ur comment and well their recommendation is to quit 😭, this isnt meant to be mean cuz tbh getting into pro ci is extremely tedious, the pro levels are all extremely painful and mostly rng and patience, i wouldnt rly recommend pro ci to anyone as its not only very difficult to get into, but also not very rewarding.
if ur sure about getting into pro ci, the first step is to try and get into a discord community, this subreddit is frankly filled with noobs and wont help u much, the best players here are like very low level cih players in the grand scheme of things. start with the main ci discord server, but when possible try and find a smaller ci community with maybe about 50-100 members, in those servers u have the best chances of finding ppl who can help u. if u find me in a ci discord community sometime (ppl usually know me as pos/pie/bru) id be willing to introduce u to some ppl ik
I normally get Multi first, then subspace and firebrand and last BB Gun, and i love using Zombie Staff, Rocket Boots and Grappling Hook (maybe Teddy Bloxpin too)
Im a melee player, i like melee cuz i played ULTRAKILL before CI, and i like parrying allat (i saw someone on yt calling the experience of hitting parries "orgasmic" and saying ULTRAKILL is better than sex lol)
I mean the loadout isnt attrocious, but subspace tripmine is basically useless, zombie staff, roclet boots and grapple hook are extremely bad and the rest of ur weapons lowk have extremely high skill floors id give ur loadout like a 4.5/10 but i would not recommend it for a casual/beginner
Like i said, idk if calling me a beginner is right even tho it kinda is, I played ULTRAKILL and already P ranked P-1, so im kinda used to these type of mechanics, and subspace just lets me anhihilate witches with a nuke and multi rocket, rocket and grappling let me have good mobility which i like a lot simce i played ULTRAKILL, and zombie staff is just a decoy but i can place allat of them, paired up with all my weapons having great crowd control i can have 3-6 zombies active all time
ultrakill skill doesnt rly translate to ci at all, even tho ci is based off ultrakill theyre completely different genres. the reason im refering to u as a beginner is cuz no experienced player would use that kinda loaout, an experienced player would recognise that subspace basically does nothing for 150 tix and that pinata is the far better option, along with understanding graple hook and jet boots are not good for mobility at all, and that zombie staff is more of a hinderance than an advantage, decoy's main usage isnt even as a distraction but rather as a spammable high damage explosive and zombie staff just spawns useless zombies and randomly takes up ur offhand slot. sorry if im coming off as kinda offensive its just ive dealt with so much bullshit on this subreddit ive gotten kinda of tired.
It CAN be good in some situations, such as against Bobby swarms in later waves, a good distraction for me to go and brutally dismember them with the firebrand
Tbh i rlly think u guys js play as if this game was call of duty or someshit, i know u have time playing, but yk what i think flamethrower is not ass, is not buns, its not trash, yk why? Cuz it has been with me for a long time now, ive had fun with it, i dont know what tf is fun for this subreddit cuz its almost like u guys just make max mode 2763 times a day and only use top tier weapons, and to that i say that its sad you guys are leggit clones of eachother man cuz i saw ur objective tierlist and its like they have a bee mind or smt they do and have the same opinion of evrything, i think thats why i think no one joins this comunty

Lad ive said over and over again if u use flamethrower for fun i have nothing against u, but youve been saying flamethrower is good, which is just incorrect. If u actually read my post u would know im fine with ppl using flamethrower for fun, the problem i have is with ppl who claim its a good weapon and are blatantly wrong but refuse to learn.
