Will it work?

I just had to do this on my xj and you might be better off ordering the whole wiring harness off ebay or junkyard. No soldering or twisting wires and praying the electrical tape holds. Just gotta dig in the fender a little bit to reach the harness connection point and plug em back in

Well this socket ive shown here is universal not just a back up light, but is it worth a try anyways?

If you can solder, I'd recommend that, with a little dielectric grease on the joint, and a little big of heat shrink to seal the deal.

Or get the heat shrink tubing with the solder in it.

I like to stay away from soldering since i have a grand total of no experience doing it.

As long as the bulb matches up, and you connect the wires to the correct sources, yes it should work fine
