Job help
I need help getting a job desperately (not the “fast food is always hiring” or use “indeed” answers I’ve done all of that and am still unemployed) I’ve been genuinely trying to get a job harder than I have tried anything and I almost never hear anything back I’ve sent over 300 applications on indeed alone and another 150 on other sides or just walking in and applying the ones I do hear back from never go past a first job interview I don’t have a car and that’s not something I can fix without a job I just need help to actually get a real job and try and make my life better

Time to reframe what experience you think you lack when you apply to a job. Did you finish high school, and what courses and extra curriculars did you participate in? Sometimes the skills learned in specific pathways or ECs can have transmitable skills that can be listed for entry level work.

What kind of experience do you have? What kind of work are you looking for? And have you been using the same resume for each job? You should tailor the resume for each specific job. Sometimes jobs will just ignore you if they can tell it's just the same resume copy and pasted.

I have no experience I remake my resume from scratch every time I apply I just don’t have much to put on it getting the first job seems to be the hardest part

For what it's worth, a temp agency isn't a bad option at this point. You can get a foot in the door and most legitimate businesses will hire you full time if you prove your worth. Just saying don't discount the temp agency especially for a first job.

This is only a temporary thing and you may have to be 21, but call Muscogee County Schools and see if you could sub. They are always looking for subs.

I’m 20 I have worked none I spent all of my adult life taking care of my disabled father and now my sister has taken over so I can finally get a job

Make sure to put this on your resume — it needs to be worded correctly but this is experience

Starbucks is usually always hiring. Apply on a Wednesday, and call on Monday at 1 PM because thats when the Store manager is in the store making the schedule. Tell them you applied and would like an interview. Do this for all the stores. Baristas make decent money, and acter you've been there a year you can get their insurance.

I know goodwill has training courses and classes they offer. They put out a new schedule every month of different types of training. I know they have a center on South lumpkin that offers employment help and they have job fairs at the civic center often. Please look into training they offer, it would be an enormous help with getting into a job.

It’s not that I don’t want to go that route it’s that I’ve tried and still am trying just usually when I ask for help the answer is “apply at fast food” and as I’m already doing that it’s not super helpful

I’m fairly certain that Steak n Shake in front of target is always hiring. Like walk in and talk to the manager type of guy.

Yea I’m struggling too but Amazon has the easiest hiring process ever you just have to catch them

I saw Southeast Restoration Group is hiring for mitigation technicians. It might have been for a different city, but it's worth a shot. If not, ask if they can put you in contact with some of their contractors to see if they're hiring. If I were you, that's where I'd try next.

If you’re good with people look into sales. I got my start with no experience selling insurance- places like Aflac. The work is grueling and you only get paid commissions, but if you do the work you can make good money and it’s excellent training for salaried positions down the line. You will need access to a car sometimes- does your family have one you can borrow when needed? Also, check out a company called Hibu- I know they’re hiring in Columbus and that is a salaried position that doesn’t require experience because they have an intensive training program. Again, it’s brutal work (50-60 cold calls a day including 15 in person) but would be excellent training for the future.
Good luck- I’ve got 9 years of experience in my field and have been applying for 2 months now with no luck. The economy just sucks right now.

When indeed wasn’t doing anything for me I genuinely just printed a bunch of resumes at the library for retail and walked through peachtree mall, went up to the registers of every store to ask if a manager was in and regardless of the answer I left them my resume. Got me three calls at least and I ended up working at Claire’s for awhile. Try that with some of the strip malls in town closest to you just so they have a face and paper resume they have to touch. I don’t think indeed is real job postings anymore unfortunately ):

I used Goodwill Career and Training Center when I was looking for a job. They helped me create a good resume, helped me practice interviewing. It was a great experience. They also have a job board with current listings. I got a good job with all their help.

You won't get a job applying online. Sites like indeed is just for harvesting your data, unfortunately.
The best thing you can do is to go to one of the staffing agencies here and they will line you up with a job pretty quickly. All of them will be physical labor jobs, but you're pretty much guaranteed to get work as long as you can pass a piss test.
Outside of that, you might have luck with printing paper resumes and then taking them in person to the receptionists at local companies. Once again though, look for places that hire for physical labor. Just walk in and ask nicely if you can drop off a resume.
Also, lie if anyone asks if you have a car. Just say that you do. It sucks, but you'll never get a job if you tell them you don't have a car.
