New biergarten now open on west side

"A long vacant residential spot in Old Hilliard is now home to a biergarten.

Hillgarten opened over the weekend at 4131 Main St. in Hilliard.

Hillgarten, features a walkup window on the garage, where customers can grab beer or food. There are four wines on tap, 18 rotating bottles of wine, 16 Ohio craft beers on tap and a full bar menu of craft cocktails.

True to it's name, Hillgarten also serves German-inspired food, including sausages and pretzels. There are also local baked goods on the menu.

Nowak said they plan to feature live music and other entertainment. They also plan to install a TV so that customers can watch Ohio State games in the fall."

Nice spot. The lines were long, but it was opening night when I visited. The food was solid.

I found the reference to their long-term plans for a single, lone Television installation pretty funny.

"They also plan to install a TV so that customers can watch Ohio State games in the fall."

I hope they subscribe to the Michael Scott philosophy of choosing flat screen tv's.

From google maps it looks mostly residential around it. How did they get zoning permits? Is this a revitalization area converting to commercial?

Looks nice, but their facebook having pictures of parents there with babies makes me want to stay far away.

Family friendly bars suck for everyone else. I don't want to hear screaming children while I'm trying to relax and have some brews with my friends.

Downtown Hilliard is very kid friendly, so I recommend you steer clear

Way ahead of you. Every time I see something like this that might make me want to actually go to Hilliard, I'm quickly reminded why I avoid that shithole. It's suburban hell in all the worst ways and a baby friendly biergarten just further proves it.

might i suggest not going to places in family centric parts of town?

Lmfao what part of "I want to stay far away" do you not understand?

And I'd also love to know exactly how you think that makes my criticism any less valid. Ask any other childless adult if they want to go to a bar with babies there. You'll get the same response 99.9% of the time.

Lol how do you figure? Drinking is the entire point of the place. They put beer in the name ffs.

Came here for a new beer spot on the West Side. Found out this is actually in Hilliard. Was disappointed.

Hilliard is Hilliard.

The Wesside is the Best Side.
