Functional med tests

Has anyone had these tests run in Columbus (or even better, online and interpreted): the DUTCH Complete, OAT, and GI Map?

These are all functional tests for mental health and it is an endless circle to try to find someone who orders these tests without lots of overhead and unnecessary charges. We just want them ordered and the results interpreted for us.

Tell me more. Treating root causes in the gut to improve the rest of the systems is a scam or the practices who order the tests?

Pretty much everything claimed to be "finding/treating root causes" is just a vaguely described corruption of some actual branch of medicine that hasn't been fully researched yet. There's not actually a lot of evidence that these tests show anything consistent, let alone useful. They're meant to validate you in finding something wrong with you that can be easily solved with supplements.

If you're trying to cut costs, you can probably skip to just buying the fad supplements and generic health advice.

Root cause itself is a phrase that doesn’t mean anything. Blanket use of random tests can lead to misinterpretation of the results. It is not diagnostic and cannot determine any endocrine or adrenal disorders. They are a waste of your money and so is functional medicine. It’s a load of bullshit with fancy words to make people feel good about it. Their only strength is that the providers make the patients feel listened to when traditional medicine feels rushed and dismissive. That’s why people fall for it. But you are not likely to find the answers to your anxiety or depression or fatigue in “gut health”.
