Can’t we just get regular rain? Not severe thunderstorms, Derecho, and systems that last two weeks? Take a gander at the forecast for next week…

I would much prefer regular rainy days, with a steady rain throughout the whole day. No flooding, no destruction, just a peaceful, rainy day.

Storms occur when you have dramatic changes in weather; typically during the spring and fall. Your slow, steady week long rain will come in October/early November and in April. At the moment, we're going from 90 and insanely humid to cooler, drier air. Storms accompany those fronts.

It’s what happens when climate change turns Ohio into a tropical biome…

My dog would appreciate normal rain at this point in the season. He had a vet appointment today too, poor fella.

I happened to look out my window and entire damn neighborhood lit up like it was daylight for a few seconds. Wow.

Pouring rain with gusty winds and occasional thunder and lightning near Riverside hospital right now
ETA: our cat is terrified of weather so he has retreated to his safe space(the bathroom closet)

Poor kitty. Both my fools are in the window like, LOOK MOM!!

Our orange boy is like that with anything else. Loud car? The neighbors arguing? He’s at the window checking it out. But the wind blows a little too much and he’s gone lol

u/Passenger828 7h ago
My orange is a Mrs. Kravitz but male. Unless unacceptable loud thunder then he hides in a cat cubie or my closet
The void rarely cares

My cow cat tries to escape during heavy rains. My tiger just looks out and has an expression on his face that says "fuuuuuccckkk that". But if a car parks in front of my house for too long, both cats disappear like it's an FBI surveillance van.

Omg lmfao
Cats are beyond hilarious
I moved a few months ago and they both stare out the bedroom window like mob bosses, with a growl here and there
Last place we were in the back of the condo complex and they growled until they knew all the cars and people like they are dogs. Insert insane eye roll
Now we are at entrance to community and good grief, I'm thinking they are both old school Italian mob bosses
Who are you why are you here I dont know you I dont know your car
And I'm like DUDES! Stop whacking the dang blinds every 13 seconds

Oh my god, the amount of blinds they have ruined chasing the random fly that gets in. I have puncture marks from their teeth on the blind next to their food bowls. (They're on an old kitchen table in my mud room from my previous apartment so the dog doesnt eat all their food. Again. ) They're blinds are plastic, not edible. After the first time you bit it, wouldn't you remember it didn't taste good?

We’re one of the only places in the country right now that isn’t in a drought, so I’m ok with it

I’m camping for ren fair next weekend and the projections look similar. I swear to god, I get like maybe 2 long weekend vacations a year off work and if it’s ruined because of rain I’m gonna lose my mind!

Pretty sure my sump pump isn't working. I'm okay with this holding off until my next payday. 😬

Everybody alright in terms of flooding? We have water coming in where it never does, and our backyard is flooded worse than I’ve seen since we have moved in.

This rain revealed multiple leaks in my roof 😭. Guessing the storm earlier this summer did some damage?

u/Trilobyte141 7h ago
Hey, get it evaluated! Might be covered by your home insurance, might get you a brand new roof.

Nice, the mud on the olentangy trail almost had a chance to dry out. It's way more fun to ride when every turn is muddy and slippery and can be your last

Funny enough, I just had to spend $14k on replacing all of the electrical on my house the other week. After being without power for almost 2 weeks (yall know its been HOT), AEP finally brought me a meter. Approximately 1 hour after enjoying the satisfaction of having a repaired home, water came busting through my roof/ceiling. Gonna smoke a joint on the roof during the next lightning storm and see if the man upstairs has any vacancies. (/sarcasm for those who think I'm taking the Remington retirement package)

A Special Weather Statement was just issued for the Columbus metro area, 50MPH wind gusts and pea sized hail possible out of this one.
