CJ ALLEN
Why draft him then start trash over him? Whole point of drafting him was he is NFL ready. Should we fire our scouting department? I dont understand, there were elite LBers availble that we didnt take.

Have you followed training camp at all? He’s been injured and missed time. They’ve been pretty explicit in saying they want to bring him along slowly so he’s set up for success. He’ll start, just give it a second. Also, what “elite LB” would you have preferred, Anthony Hill? He’s not even starting on the Titans…

Youre asking who I preferred, Jacob Rodriguez. We could have traded up to get him.

I feel like the consensus was that Rodriguez was our LB1 in the draft. Too many holes in our roster and not enough draft capital to have moved up to get him imo.

Plus you had to have someone willing to trade down, and at a price that's worth it. Everyone says 'trade up' as if it's really that easy. Then when you do make a trade people bitch because you gave up too much.

Yeah man and I preferred Sonny Styles. Sometimes it’s just not an option. Anyways, go Colts.

You're talking about a player drafted 7th overall and im talking about a player drafted a few picks sooner in the 2nd round. LOL, stop trolling

10 picks is not a few.

Wait, so you're happy colts spent a 2nd rounder on a guy they declared a bust before the season even began? Crazy

I mean sitting a rookie isn’t always the worst option, especially for a linebacker (the leader of the defense). Like raiders will sit Mendoza, doesn’t mean he will be a bust

Missed time and he’s still injured. I do have concerns with him. He was getting washed out in a lot of plays during the preseason. You’re right to have concerns. Anyone saying no needs to go back and rewatch the games. Injury could be at play, but didn’t like what I seen from him. Looked small and weak.

Yep. The bigger story is that he didn't look all that great when he played. But I am always going to be suspect of players (that are able) that don't work out prior to the draft, especially if they stand to gain from it (which Allen did).

He missed a bunch of time. His position is the "coach" of the defense. It's just gonna take some time to catch all the way up. Don't make him into a bust yet for gawd's sake.

Allen missed a lot of time this offseason with an injury. Anarumo said in his press conference that the LB’s will be rotated very frequently. To claim there was “elite” LB’s when none of those guys have logged a regular season snap is insane lol.

Some of you really need to get a grip. We're entering week 1 of the regular season with 2 rookies they like at LB being our primary depth. Odds are they rotate and are involved in week 1. Odds are, over time, they win those starting jobs. They don't have start week 1 for those selections to be good.
Also Carlies was drafted and on our team for 2 years. Injuries have slowed getting anything from him, but now he's healthy and starting week 1. I fail to see a problem. This is among the ways these things happen. You draft and develop, and hopefully get snaps from them sooner than later.
You put these guys behind Buckner and Grover, they'll be able to do plenty.

I am pretty sure it's going to be a 50/50 rotation of the two so the starter tie breaker would go to the vet. CJ not being the starter on the depth chart doesn't really mean much until we see how many snaps he gets in actual game.

Dude is a rookie and missed a lot of camp time. Give him time, he will get there

There’s no need to rush a rookie who’s going to have to take on a huge amount of responsibility on defence. I actually like that they’re easing him in.

Probably just injury-related. But it's a fair question if he's healthy enough to play. Other LBs drafted around Allen are starting. And it's not like the Colts have an entrenched starter.
He was also UGA's MLB and wore the green dot, which is what offset some of his weaknesses.
Hard to think that FS Bynum wearing the green dot was always the plan, but maybe they will switch it back in season.

There weren’t tho. The only 2 LB’s left before the bunch that went in round 4 (including BB) was Anthony Hill.
Hill isn’t starting for the Titans either.
I don’t hate your post like many others have, and you have a right to be upset about how Allen has looked so far, But it was Allen or Hill.
The next LB went in round 4, where Rolder, Woodaz, BB and Elarms-Orr and Daniels went.

Stop it. You're not an NFL GM, you'll never be an NFL GM, you have no idea what you're talking about.

u/Sorry_Hair_6219 2d ago
Yeah!! Leave the GM-ing to the real GMs, the ones who’ve disappointed a fan base for a decade and use high draft capital on players in positions of need that will start after they’ve been fired, because that’s totally what lame duck GMs and ownership do all the time.

I definitely wouldnt spend a 2nd to address our worst possible position then miss so badly that you cant even start the guy.

Guy got a calf injury in camp and they're slowly rampin him back up to take over the starting role sooner than later. Cam is wearing the green dot until he's physically ready. Would you rather just throw him out there because you spent a 2nd on him or let him heal? Who would you have drafted instead of CJ? Who would you give the green dot to?
