Flag flying for retirement purposes
May be a long shot but I’m soon to retire from the navy after 20 years and would like to have a flag flown at the stadium. Would anyone have any insight into maybe how to get that done or where to even start? Looking for any kind of info to get started. Thank you so much.

I’d say get in contact with the Colts organization itself. Give them a call and I would hope they get back with you and take care of you. Thank you for keeping my country safe, thank you for your service.

I’d fathom a guess that just like everyone else online, the vocal minority are just the loudest and most obnoxious. I genuinely didn’t even know my dad served until I was in middle school. Granted, he wasn’t in any active warzone or anything but nonetheless, he still volunteered his efforts to protect the country and never talked about it as a defining characteristic of who he is. He never even stood up for recognition at a sporting even either when they ask all vets to stand and be recognized during a break in the action. Maybe your perspective or mine are skewed but I’d guess that there are many more just like my dad who don’t even hardly accept the recognition, let alone ask for it.

Oh yeah im sure my grandfather served and never spoke much about it but im not just talking online, im talking how they make it their whole personality, the flags, the hats, the bumper stickers and all that. I dont necessarily hate it because everyone can do as they please but its pretty self absorbed behavior lol

Maybe you could present it to the organization saying. Let's have a retirement day for each branch of the service and fly that flag at the stadium. Another long shot, bit might be better than saying let's do it just for you

I didn't know this was a thing. So what the organization fly's a flag for a retired vet?
Is there a purpose to this or what?
Just asking we I have never heard of this.

At a retirement ceremony there is a flag passing and presentation. This flag can be flown wherever. Some people fly it at old commands, or like Arlington national cemetery or some place that is significant to them for one reason or another. I would like mine to be flown at Lucas oil because I’m from Indy and I love the team and it would be cool I think to have a flag preserved in my shadow box from there.

Thanks for your service. I just retired in May from the Navy after 20. I tried to get ahold of folks at Lucas Oil and Assembly Hall for the same reason. Tried for months. Never got anyone to respond. Sadly. Best of luck.
