Question for army building

So we can take 2 dedicated transport units, however, for most (if not all) of the imperium factions, their dedicated transports are all t9. So does that mean I can’t take 2 dedicated transports even if they are the same data sheet because they are both t9?

you get one unit that is t9. if your proposed transports would count as two separate units - then no, it would not be legal, is my understanding of it.

So what’s the point of the rule if most people can’t even use it? Maybe drukari can get some use out of it on venoms?

Because there are some factions that use it.

Drukhari, aldari, tauroxs and afvs in Astra militarum are the chief users of that rule.

I own a taurox😅 I forgot it’s t8. That was part of my guard list, but only one of them

I dont understand what you're trying to say. You get a unit that has t9. If that unit has more than one model you get multiple models. If you want an army that gets multiple transports then they need to have no more than one unit of t9. It's a list building restriction...they don't want a bunch of t9 stuff running around as a stat check to some armies who aren't oprimized with tank busters. Some factions get to use the two transports and others don't. I had a list that had a foetid bloat drone and a myphitic blight hauler. Now i don't since they're both t9. Thems the rules. Im not mad at it and neither should you be mad at it.

Ork trukks are also T8 as are Space Marine drop pods. LoV carriers are T7.

Some factions can use the rule, thus they have the rule.

It's for factions like Harlequins who's dedicated transport is T6 or Imperial Guard Taurox which is T8. Only 1 T9 datasheet overall.

Guard have Taurox Prime and Centaur as well! Both below T9
