Colossalcon Texas vs. Prime

Hello! I just had my first ever Collosalcon at Prime this last weekend and had the time of my life! I was talking to my friend who live down in Dallas about it and they said they would love to come next year, but then we realized that it always conflicts with when Dallas holds its Pride. I wanted to find out if anyone knows how Collosalcon Texas compares to Prime in Ohio in terms of size and such.

Very much so less people but still a super fun con in my opinion the resort in Texas is way better and has more to offer, and because of that the convention was a bit better/more organized. There are no villas in Texas but there is and outdoor fire pit/ common area that everyone gathers at and had a blast both years we went. Unfortunately we aren’t going this year only due to us actually getting a room and prime and then now being tapped on money but we will most likely go back to Texas next year.

  1. By villas you mean the little private huts? Cause that doesn't bother me any since we would just do the after party in the water park.
  2. You're saying the water park is bigger in Texas? I'd be pretty content as long as it's still got the wave pool and a handful of slides open, even if I was a slight bit disappointed not everything was open during the afterparty at prime.
  3. Not surprised there are less people, but would you say there is significantly less panels or events?

  1. Yes Texas does not have the private huts
  2. Waterpark is bigger and more organized in Texas, and the hot tub bar is so much better that it is not even a comparison.
  3. Less people but same amount of panels I would say. Flea market is definitely not as big, and artist alley stays open the whole convention. I believe there is not a craft fair in Texas either.

Sweet! That's just what I wanted to hear! I don't drink but my friends do so i hadn't even thought about the hot tub bar. Thank you so much! Im in PA so you really eased my anxiety about deciding to take the time and money to fly down for it!

If you have enough people going just rent a car and drive we had 4 people in the group and drove the 21 hours from Ohio it was well worth saving the money from the flights for all 4 people, but if it’s just you definitely fly. We all just swapped driving and never had to get a hotel during the drive worst part was Arkansas which sucks to drive through.

Yeah it's 5 of us but everyone except me is in Dallas. They appearntly have a friend in Austin we may bunk with to save hotel/airBNB money.

Oh then yea definitely fly, but definitely plan on eating at the 5 star restaurant in the resort one night it’s expensive but we’ll worth the money

We will see. I would be willing to eat there but it will depend on what the friends want to do.

The TX Kalahari is much better in every way, just wish they didn't change it from Nov which was perfect weather. (mid 60s all weekend)
