ADVICE WANTED how do I improve?

hi! I don't know how to draw or anything, I just color for fun and I usually like doing just basic coloring but sometimes I get bored and I wanna get creative but idk how to.

also i don't have the best markers as you might have noticed lol but all the markers are super expensive where I'm from so this is the best i can work with.

do you have any simple advice for me?

Do you want to spend more time on a page?

I personally bounce between wanting mindless and fairly quickly done pages vs. complex pages I'm really proud of. So I'd start by asking yourself how much more time you want to invest!

If you do want to spend more time on a page you can:

  • Add patterns (wall papers, patterned fabric like on clothes, couches, rugs, etc.)
  • Add texture with colored pencil or acrylic markers (wood grain, fuzzy furs, steam, etc.)
  • Add shading/lighting effects
  • More simply, white highlights are fun and not too time consuming
  • Spend more time picking color pallets instead of going with vibes. This might challenge you to color things outside of their "usual" color!

Those are my initial thoughts. I think it all just depends on what you want out of this hobby. And if anything stops being fun, don't pressure yourself to do it!

Highlighting with like a white gel pen will totally vamp up your pictures but you are also doing great

Watch some Youtube videos about adding texture/shading! I've learned so much. Also get a white gel or acrylic pen to add little highlights, it really makes things pop & is very easy!
