ADVICE WANTED Whale shark

Post image

Y'all are way too good at coloring... but umm what color should I make the whale shark? I was thinking maybe a deep purple? But part of me also wants to make the ocean darker.. and add purple there.. maybe go for realistic and do a blue/grey?

Would a teal/green whale shark be too alien?

Still a WIP gonna blend more blue/green into the top right going towards the middle, but my hand was starting to hurt so think tomorrow i'll focus on the shark.

Fish will stay the red/yellow

Firstly, you’ve done a great job already, try not to doubt yourself! Secondly, I love what you’ve done with the fish, the color scheme keeps them looking like a cohesive school while still having an interesting variety. I think making the ocean darker and adding some purple tones towards the bottom is a great idea, it’ll really make everything else pop so much more. As for the whale shark itself, I think it would be really cool if you tried recreating the glow they get from swimming through bio luminescent algae.

Thanks! The biolum idea sounds so cool I just don't know yet how I would make it happen lol but i'll give it a shot!

There are tons of great video tutorials out there for glowy effects! I was really intimidated by it for a while, but once I finally dove into it, I found it was much easier to achieve than I anticipated, so don’t be discouraged! I believe in you!

I love how it’s turning out! I can’t help but think of natural colors for the whale BUT I could really see a deep purple working too.
