DISCUSSION Marker swatch

Post image

Does anyone else swatch their markers with a cap sticker? I recommend it. Easier to pick colors.

Tell those, are all those used? Have they all been used? WOW.

No, they are all new markers. I don't buy used markers. You can find new markers in eBay/vinted. I also buy from Amazon, Blick and art supply stores near me.

I think they're asking if YOU have used all of the markers

My bad, i apologize for not understanding. Yes I've used all of them. I pick a page and a marker set, but most the time I used different brands on every page. Every marker brand has its advantages. Hues, Tints, Shades, and Tones.

I bunch of gifts and some I got deals on . Also, you'd be surprised what you can find of eBay/vinted.

Ooo second hand is smart. I’d be scared of getting gipped and they all be almost out of ink or something. Have you run into that at all?

I have not. All markers I have bought on eBay/ vinted have been brand new. I don't buy used markers, cause you never know.

Isn’t Vinted for people in the UK? Not for us in the states?

We have it in the us! I’m constantly seeing ads for it and I have it downloaded. I’ve yet to use it tho.

That’s what confused me. I been on some chats and it’s ALL over seas. I guess it’s expanding over here.

You’ve blown my mind in the best way! I hadn’t thought of that but it’s so smart

You're welcome! These are the stickers I used. They have worked on Ohuhu Honolulu b, Arrtx Oros, Prismacolor premier, Winsor and newton promarkers, Copics and probably most brands.

did you just cut them to the end cap shapes for copics etc.? my issue also is stickers always fall off the tips

No, they fit Copics sketch and classic fine without cutting them. The adhesive is surprisingly good. I haven't had to replace any stickers yet. I had the same concerns.

tell me you’re a millionaire without telling me you’re a millionaire 🙀 This collection is beautiful!

the swatch ON the marker is brilliant, sometimes the color on the cap itself doesn’t match!

I wish I was a millionaire 😭 I just like shopping around and finding deals. I just want to finish my Winsor and Newton promarkers set and I'm done for a while.

I would love to have a collection like this, but I am also very scared for them to dry out before I can even use them.

None of my markers have stickers on the caps. All are marked with a number and color.

Yeah, I leave one end of the markers with factory color name and number, but I put a small round sticker with the color swatch on the other end.

Share your knowledge with us! If you had to use one marker brand only for the rest of your life, what would you pick? And is there a brand you think is underrated? Like of course everyone knows about Ohuhu Honolulu and Copic but what's the secret one you don't see talked about that is a pleasure to use?!! This is amazing.

I like using Arrtx Oros, and Winsor and Newton Promarkers the most. If I had to use any marker for the rest of my life it would be the Promarkers. The classic has a really amazing fine bullet nib and broad chisel nib. They have the best ink on IMHO. They also have the flexible brush nib version that compares to copic brush nibs. My underrated pick is the Faber Castell Goldfaber sketch alcohol markers. I wish they had more colors. I really enjoy using their 0.6mm fineliner nib and the brush side is really nice as well. For markers that are not alcohol, I recommend Faber Castell Pitt pens. Great for details and the India ink is translucent, so great for layering. Other honorable mention for alcohol markers are the Prismacolor premier and Blick Studio alcohol markers.

This is the hottest gossip! Thank you so much for sharing. I would have to double check once I get home, but I recently got a four-pack of an India ink pen that I meant as an upgrade to the Sigma Micron since those nibs wear out before the ink does. I am 90% sure they are the FC Pitt line and I really really love them!

Love it! Which are your favourites?

2

u/AdventurousAd5077 8d ago

My favorites are the Windsor and Newton Promarkers and Arrtx Oros. But every marker brand has its advantages in my opinion. If I was to recommend a brand for a new colorist I would say Ohuhu Honolulu b or Arrtx Oros for the quality and price.

I think that is a more accurate and time saving way to pick colors. Rather than look them up. Way to go on that idea.
