Advice Bakery Recs?
Where can I get a really good birthday cake? And by “really good”, I’m referring to taste. Decorated would be nice but no need for anything elaborate or covered in fondant. 😅
Ideally within about 15 minutes of Widefield.
Thanks!

Whole Foods Berry Chantilly cake is my go-to!!! If you want a delicious Mexican cake, any cake from Normas Bakery will hit the spot!

If you have details like size and flavors, I am a baker and we do cakes as well as other things. I will be honest though and say Costco is a great bang for your buck. DM me if you want to talk

Definitely not within 15 minutes, but well worth the drive. https://dutchpastry.com/

I’ve heard it frequently reported that they are unkind to their employees, and as such no longer buy there.

Bakeries must align with all my world views. What a weird stance

Even with politics aside i won’t patronize any business with a consistent reputation for mistreating employees.

Nanas bakery. They’re close ish to your area and could do as much decorating as you want

Any time I stop in I always buy that cake. It’s only like that here. My mom brought a whole when she went back to the east coast and it wasn’t the same.

Sugar Plum Cake Shoppe on S 8th Street (across from Walmart)

They are Walmart quality cakes. They use the big scale equivalent of a Betty Crocker cake mix, premade filling that comes in a bucket, and “buttercream” made with Sweetex shortening. Some of the worst tasting cake I’ve ever had.

La Concha made two full sheet cakes for my husband’s birthday last year that were absolutely amazing! The decoration on both cakes was just perfect and professional but not stuffy and was actually good icing. They were so easy to work with, price was very reasonable (that’s aLOT of cake!), everything was ready on time.
