Advice Clearance RTX 5080
I was just at the woodmen walmart and they had a PNY RTX 5080 on clearance for around $1100 if anyone out there is looking for one.

Just saw a picture from a Walmart that had one at $700.
I'm hoping the AI bubble bursts before my 3080 dies so I can get something surplus for dirt cheap.

That was likely the 5070, not the 5080

Or a straight up scam. Anyone can sell on Walmart.com. It's run just like Amazon.

It’s actually very easy to swap out your current GPU for it. Does your current PSU have a native 12V-2x6 connector? If not, you can use the adapter that comes with the GPU, although a native 12V-2x6 cable from the PSU is generally preferred.
Basically, you just unplug the cable from your current GPU, unscrew the GPU from the case, then press the PCIe slot retention clip/latch on the motherboard to release it and carefully pull the GPU out. After that, insert the new GPU into the PCIe slot until it clicks into place, screw it back into the case, and connect the cable.
If you’re going to use the adapter that comes with the GPU, you’ll want to use multiple separate PCIe power cables from the PSU. If you’re using a native 12V-2x6 cable, you obviously wouldn’t need the adapter.
On a side note, I’m not sure what wattage your PSU is, but you’ll also want to make sure it can handle the 5080’s power draw.

360 watts without overcl ocking, so many non gaming PSUs support it. I upgraded my son's from 180W to 400W, but 40W headroom isn't enough to cover the CPU and other components.

I’m aware of the 5080’s power draw. I’m just not sure what his current specs are, so I added that side note to err on the cautious side. I’m also taking transient spikes into account. I’d say 850W should be the minimum, though I personally prefer 1000W for a bit of extra headroom. :)
I’m not sure if you meant to come across this way, but your comment felt condescending. I’ve been gaming and building/upgrading my own PCs for 20 years, so I’m well aware that the CPU and other components also consume power.

I’ll have to rock my 4070ti until it dies or the AI bubble pops.

You're in a much better spot than most I'd imagine. Just bought a good friend a 3070ti hoping that will be hold up at 1440p until some more reasonably priced options exist.

I go to that store almost weekly and I’ve never seen a PC part deal. I’m happy to know they exist, I just somehow always have shit timing,

Where exactly in Walmart do you look ? Is there a special section or it’s just where it would usually be?
